This thread and others in a similar vein exhibit an ugly side to Free Republic that is just as revolting as the cruelty expressed on this site in October 1998 when so many here (still) rejoiced at the murder of Matthew Shepard.
I objected then and was banned.
I should not have returned. You have learned nothing.

The topic of the thread is the execution of the Tyrant Saddam Hussein.
To: harrowup
I suggest you visit Iraq and talk to the many Iraqis who have had their lives shattered by Saddam Hussein. It isn't hard to find them. They're all around. I've heard stories that chilled me to the marrow. And gave me an even greater appreciation for my country.
If you could hear (and see the scars) firsthand from the people who were bruatlized by this monster, you may understand the celebratory nature of these posts.
Oh, and visit Kuwait, too. They also have some horror stories.

Take your bleeding heart back to the DU. Weep for the mass-murdering dictator if you like... Are you getting together a one-man candlelight vigil for him?

This thread and others in a similar vein exhibit an ugly side to Free Republic that is just as revolting as... Well, since you called my name in vain, son, I must respond, however relunctantly.
You just arrived too early, 1,000 posts into a thread about an event that hasn't happened. Wait a bit, maybe 10,000 more posts to see the beautiful side of Free Republic and all those 'prayers going up', 'he was a good man', and 'condolences to the family' posts.

I will rejoice the death of Saddam Hussien, I will rejoice the day someone finally kills Gerry Adams - nothing wrong with rejoicing the death of a scumbag!

From an earlier AP report:
Saddam Remains in U.S. Military Prison
***********************************AN EXCERPT *********************************
*****************************************
In his Friday sermon, a mosque preacher in the Shiite holy city of Najaf called Saddam's execution "God's gift to Iraqis."
"Oh, God, you know what Saddam has done! He killed millions of Iraqis in prisons, in wars with neighboring countries and he is responsible for mass graves. Oh God, we ask you to take revenge on Saddam," said Sheik Sadralddin al-Qubanji, a member of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, known as SCIRI, the dominant party in al-Maliki's coalition.

Apparently you haven't learned much, either.
To: harrowup
I've been telling all my friends the things I learned from the Amnesty Intl report on Saddam's Iraq...throwing live humans into plastic shredders, starving children to death in front of their mothers...
Even the ones who knew nothing about why we had to remove him are ready for him to swing.
If anyone deserves the death penalty as justice, it is he.
