Obama strong in new poll Illinois senator would beat both McCain and Giuliani

Two weeks after speaking to a sell-out Manchester crowd of more than 1,600, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama is reaping the benefits of his visit. If the Democratic primary were held today, Obama would be in a statistical dead heat with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, according to a new Monitor poll. Last month, a Monitor poll showed Clinton trouncing her opponents, with Obama lagging 23 points behind.

"I'm not surprised, because Barack Obama got five days of constant media attention in New Hampshire," said Jim Demers, a lobbyist and former Democratic lawmaker who accompanied Obama throughout the senator's New Hampshire visit. "Obama has demonstrated to the people of New Hampshire that he's a top-tier candidate."

Its amazing what results you can get for a poll if you manipulate the demographics of the poll.

The operative word: If

Speculation is not news. Polls are speculation; they are not news.

We will see literally thousands more of these speculations-passing-for-news type reports in the coming two years.

The MSM have been speculating with these presidential polls since the election of 2000.

These writers get paid by the word-count.

He's a very likeable guy but an empty suit. Can any one name his record as a US Senator and show where he made a difference? He's just an improved John F Kerry but there's no substance behind the man. Audacity of hope, indeed. Barack Obama is from start to finish, a media creation.

Hes an unknown right now. Wait till the spotlight gets turned on him by the new media, then we will see how Hussein Obama does.

This is very typical excitement over the unknown. Americans always love the politician they don't know over the ones they know. As long as Obama can continue to avoid having an opinion beyond "can't we all get along" he will be popular. I see him as the Democratic VP choice when all is said and done.

The "Concord Monitor" is the left wing rag of NH. Should be named the "Commie Monitor"

Aren't all true "politicians"? Dems fall under that category and so do a lot of RINO's. That's what makes Obama scary. He's got the media on his side.

He's a very likeable guy but an empty suit.

Which gives him the only required credentials needed to win the democratic presidential primary.

Bingo. This fishwrap makes the NYT look like Newsmax. I love the internals of this poll--phone survey? When was the survey conducted? Likely voters, registered voters, or adults? So many questions, so few answers.

Sadly NH is a blue state now.

Not for long, methinks--already incoming Dem representatives are proposing broad-based income taxes (remember, we have no income or sales taxes here) and the second John Lynch even THINKS of signing it, the Dem party will be DEAD in this state for another century.

No, 2006 was bad for NH only because of all the Ma$$h*les coming here trying to escape their "socialist paradise" and bringing their problems with them. We replaced two decent Republican Congressmen with a couple of moonbat liberals who are in WAY over their heads (especially Carol Che-Porter).

Methinks that come 2008, after seeing what the Dems are REALLY about, the good people of NH (of which I am one) will have seen what these clowns are all about and throw them out as quickly as possible. After all--this ain't Vermont. Or Maine. Or Mass.

"Yes Jane, today Sept. 11th 2001 is a very bad day, but I can tell you that 5 years from now, people will overwhelmingly want a man named Hussein Obama as their next President!"

Yesterday I was getting my luggage in Houston's Bush Intercontential airport. I saw a girl with an Obama 2008 sweat shirt on.

It won't be the new media that turns on Osama Obama...it will be the Clinton machine. She will attempt to destroy anyone who gets in her way.

They only polled 600 likely voters.

"Who is that speaking up there?"

"I don't know. I cant see him very well."

"I think it's a Dolce & Gabbana 42 Long in medium grey pinstripe."

"Yes, yes. I can see that, but who is talking?"

"It's *JUST* the suit. The empty suit!"

:~)
