Hey, Denver (and metro area communities):
Now you have the opportunity to enjoy the same kind of service that other major metropolitian cities run by liberal pols.
The Kansas City (Missouri, that is) side of the metro, their last few mayors wait for a warm up to clear their streets.

It has been quite a blizzard. My car is completely caked with snow and I can barely trace its outline...LOL. Got quite a bit of cleaning to do tomorrow.
Everything is shut and I know people who are stranded in their offices (since yesterday).

Maybe Santa will loan him his sled and a couple of reindeer for a few days.

Are the Kali transplants getting their cars stuck and walking away? This was a favored tactic in Chicago in '79. The more expensive the car, the more likely it was to be found in the middle of the road with the doors locked and snow up to the wheel hubs. After three days of snow drifting, all you would see is the edge of the roof and an antenna. After two weeks the driver's window would be punched in and the Blaupunkt would be missing...

"Oooops... This is Denver, not LA."
Same percantage of native Californians in both cities. In LA, they are just from another country.
We just kept driving East until we thought most CA's wouldn't follow. They're coming anyways to Indiana.

"It will stop snowing," the mayor said Yeah, that's what they said at the beginning of the last Ice Age. They were right, it did stop snowing after 10,000 years.

Are the Kali transplants getting their cars stuck and walking away?Well, they are from somewhere other than here. Every Coloradan I know who has been here for a while knows enough to have a 4WD SUV that they can use in weather like this, or not try to drive at all - and that cuts clear across the economic strata. Even store clerks don't try to drive to work in little sedans.
No mail service here today, either. Still snowing slightly, but traffic is moving now.

Oh...sure, he is a DEM Mayor, he can get away with blaming the weather.
But, Pres. Bush is TOTALLY responsible for all damage, and inconvenience due to Katrina...
NOW I understand.
Maybe Pres. Bush should have told all of the kids in Louisiana to bring their toy boats down to New Orleans for races!!!

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper is in his office, dialing talk radio stations for interviews and defending the work of the city's snowplow fleet during Wednesday's blizzard....Hickenlooper wants to sponsor sledding at four parks around the city Thursday, serving hot chocolate and offering sleds to anyone who doesn't have them.
When life gives you lemons, make hot chocolate.

Kills roadside trees.
You mean the trees that kill people that stray off the road? The same trees whose roots clog the drainage pipes in ditches so that roads flood in heavy rains? The same trees that grow up into the electrical transmission wires and fall down in freezing rain or blow down in high winds taking the wires with them and blocking streets? In my world there would be a 100 foot buffer where no trees were allowed around any major arterial road. No tree would be allowed to grow into powerlines either. I wish all of the tree huggers had gone and chained themselves to their tree of choice during that windstorm we had here in Oregon last week.

I grew up in Boulder...and I learned to drive in the snow...I lived outside of the city limits on Baseline Road...I never once depended on a snow plow to clear the road...and I never once missed a day of school because of snow...
Things sure have changed...

Blizzard warnings have just been dropped. It's been blowing and snowing for over a day. DIA has 4,800+ stranded passengers and won't open for another 24 hours, if then. This may be one of the top five snowstorms on record 30+ inches and still snowing. Not much man can do when wind, snow and time combine for such a wallop.
