When Dick Morris was asked last week on Fox News why he thought Obama is becoming such a rock star, he had a two word answer: 'White guilt'.
Morris went on to say, "I asked Clinton back in 2004 why he thought Colin Powell was such an appealing candidate. Clinton attributed it to white guilt".
Morris has a point. As Shelby Steele outlined in his book of the same name, "Because white guilt is a vacuum of moral authority, it makes the moral authority of whites contingent on proving a negative." So the rush is on to prove how 'free of racism' one is. Enter Obama.

What a load of macaca.
I don't feel guilty at all. About anything. Make something of yourself if you want. Don't if you want. But it has nothing to do with race.
Dont know about white guilt but its a headscratcher as to why the media would climb on board and think we should vote for someone we know nothing about. (Im not dumb- I know why)
And the probability of proving a negative is...?
Once you get your opponent to accept responsibility for 'proving a negative', the war is over. All that remains is mop-up activity.
I suspect it's just a ploy to make way for her Thighness to shine on the electorate.
What a load.
As a societal phenomenon, this is entirely true. Lots of people feel smugly superior in supporting a black candidate, and dismiss anyone who doesn't share their view as misguided or worse. This has very little to do with supporting Obama as a qualified candidate (since he clearly isn't) and a lot to do with neurotic white people trying to make an emotional statement.
I wonder, and now I am going into dangerous territories here, if some christians are considering the possibility that Obama is or more correctly according to the propecy, will become anti-christ.
The race issue and white guilt would make such claims by them harder to put forward and ridiculated even more than they of course will be.
I would like to use this forum as a public announcement that I apologize for being born a white, heterosexual male and I will go to great lengths from here on out not to offend anyone different from me and will take the offensive and vile remarks that are made toward my people on a daily basis and say nothing about it.
That's total BS..
sw
All the people I know, who dislike Obama, are people who have the ability to look past skin color, to actually examine a man's ideas, to weigh to value of his thoughts and declare "He's a no-good socialist".
Anyone who focusses on race in this day and age is irrelevant. Supporting someone because of race or opposing someone because of race is an indicator of one's racist mindset.
There ain't a hell of a lot of 'white guilt' in Chuck Schumer's posse...
Guilt, for what? The black man being brought to America is the worst thing that every happened to this country and the best thing that ever happened to the children of those brought here.
I was once in a very, very politically correct organization wherin a black male and a white female had a sexual harassment issue arise. Without mentioning who accused who of what, the really fascinating thing of it all was how the org reacted. It was like an administrative epileptic fit. They were used to overreacting to things like this, but in this particular chromosonal lineup, they weren't sure which way to jerk their knees. It was really something to see.
America, and especially the Democrats, are about to experience the same phenomenon. How do you be sensitive to women and minorities when they're not being sensitive to each other? When there's no white male in the equation for liberals to make the bad guy, emotional paralysis kicks in.
50% White
25% Black
25% Arab
So why isn't he a "White" candidate.
His ears are too big?
It's the old slave rule I guess - any % of black blood makes you a black.
