Gingrich: Imams should have been arrested
UPI ^ | 17 DEC 2006 | UPI

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told an audience in New Hampshire Muslim clerics pulled off a plane for praying should have been charged criminally.

Gingrich made the remark Friday night, as he delivered the keynote speech at the Manchester Republican City Committee Christmas dinner, the Manchester (N.H.) Union Leader reported.

"Those six people should have been arrested and prosecuted for pretending to be terrorists," Gingrich said. "And the crew of the U.S. airplane should have been invited to the White House and congratulated for being correct in the protection of citizens."

The imams, who had been attending a conference in Minneapolis, were pulled off a US Air flight to Phoenix after other passengers said they had been acting suspicious. They were questioned by the FBI for several hours and then released.

Their suspicious behavior apparently consisted of reports that they had prayed in Arabic and that they were not sitting together but had walked around to talk to each other.

Any non-Muslim joking about a hijacking would have the book thrown at them. That is exactly what these six were doing. Gingrich is right.

If the government won't prosecute them cruminally, then US Air should file a civil suit for the cost of disruption. Keep these sonzabeeches so occupied defending themselves that they won't have time to think about trolling for another lawsuit.

"Those six people should have been arrested and prosecuted for pretending to be terrorists," Gingrich said.

No Newt. They should have been arrested for Interfering With A Flight Crew.

That's a felony.

And how do you know they were pretending to be terrorists? That's a fact not yet in evidence.

"Their suspicious behavior apparently consisted of reports that they had prayed in Arabic and that they were not sitting together but had walked around to talk to each other."

They also separated to each door of the plane,
and each asked for a belt extender they did not need,
and met together on the plane, and put down America and
President Bush loudly, etc. etc.,
suggesting that UPI (=terrorist facilitator) is minimizing what they did --- terrorism.

Lock them up. Throw away the key. (as a minimum, or hang them).

Is this UPI or Al Jazeera? It is unreal the facts they left out.

They changed seats. They ordered seat belt extendeders for 170 lb men. They shouted "Allah" in the boarding area every time a passengers name was called. They discussed Al Queda and Saddam Hussein favorably--in English--for others to clearly hear them. They sat in different seats than the ones they were assigned, in an almost identical pattern to the 9/11 hijackers.

Are there Americans who work for UPI? Did they not see the towers fall on 9/11? Do they not understand that when they advocate for Islam, they are putting other Americans in danger?

Plus anything else we could tack on, such as "yelling fire in a theater", their actions had the same effect.

Exactly. If we were to start arresting these people and forcing them to prosecution. I mean the whole deal lengthy pre trial confinement and then a drawn out full blown trial, a fully and wholly life interrupting event, we could stop this crap in its tracks.

I want them convicted but even if they are not convicted the expense monetarily and loss of life, family and freedom for the 2 years of trial would be a helluva deterrent.

IMHO, there was an organized act of intimation, designed to instill fear (terror) in both of the passengers and flight crew,..these Imams, preach, fear (terror) every day to their followers, as a means to keep the Muslims in line

This is the MSM's "we covered it, didn't we?" defense. I don't know how our country can survive with a MSM so against it. UPI didn't even say "Their suspicious behavior apparently included reports...", admitting that there was more. Saying instead "consisted of" implies that's all there was. Breathtaking!

Lurker says those are facts not in evidence. We need to hold off on judgement.

If we have another 9/11, Newt, Tancredo, or someone like them, is a shoo-in for the Presidency.

It's time that some serious laws passed against this nonsense, and security cameras installed to record such incidents.

Lurker says those are facts not in evidence.

I said 'pretending to be terrorists' was a fact not yet in evidence.

Get it right or don't quote me.

You are absolutely correct. We will elect the most hawkish, aggressive, nationalistic government we have ever had in our history.

You are right = "consisted of" really shades the truth beyond reality.

Why were they shouting "Allah" in the boarding area every time a passengers name was called?

It was a probe. CAIR is a terrorist front group.

They wanted to see what they could get away with. Now they're going to Phase 2 and trying to intimidate other folks who might have the temerity to want to actually make it to their destination alive.
