Frank Sinatra's recordings from the 50s are his finest work and some of the finest work ever recorded, period.

Concept albums like In The Wee Small Hours, Come Fly With Me, Songs For Swingin' Lovers and Only The Lonely are irreproachably excellent and they inspired talents like Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley to expand their musical palette.

Rock and roll classics like "In Dreams", "Heartbreak Hotel" and "All I have To Do Is Dream" are heavily indebted to Sinatra's signature style.

"I'm not so enamored with Frankie. In World War II, most of the GIs had nothing but contempt for his draft dodging. He couldn't go to war, but he could fight it on a safe sound-stage in Hollywood."

Oh ya, I recall hearing he went to Canada or went to Europe and denounced our position. Wait, that was Klinton.

Just how did Sinatra 'dodge' the draft?

Righto! Clay refused to fight against a regime of official atheism while holding to a sect that is anything but pacifist.

But Joe Frazier gave him a real whoppin. So did Norton and Spinks and Holmes. Jimmy Young beat him too but lost via corrupt judges.

His Muslim management kept him in the ring too long and he was just too old to box. His brain damage is probably from later fights and not a cumulative collection of damage eventually leading to the progressive disease of Parkinsons.

Wikipedia begs to differ for what it's worth...

Following his teen years in New Jersey, Sinatra was interested in serving his country during World War II. But on December 9, 1941, close to his 26th birthday, Sinatra was classified as 4-F at Newark Induction Center, due to a punctured eardrum he suffered from a difficult forceps delivery. This allowed Sinatra to pursue entertainment, rather than being enlisted in the Army Air Corps.

All of which were recorded for Capitol Records after the birth of rock and roll, not before! Concept albums? Uh, huh. Show me me some contemporary reviews which called them "concept albums."

He was also a good pimp for John Kennedy and his brother.

As a Joisey Boy I know the secret.

Frank knew that breath control was the secret to singing. In an era long before running shoes and marathons, Frank could be seen running the streets of Hoboken to "builkd up his wind"!

Have to agree---and I'm a rocker from the heavy metal days. But I like Old Blue Eyes as a singer. (Always wondered how much the mob had to do with his success, though).

Only The Lonely

A priceless masterpiece that suffered when the CD was remastered and additional tracks were added. Horrible decision.

His Draft Dodging?

From Winkipedia:

Following his teen years in New Jersey, Sinatra was interested in serving his country during World War II. He didn't have "contempt for the Military" as a recent impeached sex offender demonstrated! Draft dodget...Phooey!

Yeah right!

Apparently, J. Edgar found that to be true. Book here.

Exerpt from the teaser:Hoover's search through Sinatra's past to see if he got a bogus medical deferment from military service, ultimately yielding the simple fact that Sinatra really had suffered a perforated eardrum as a youth

I was just refuting him being a draft dodger. He went to jail for his beliefs. He didn't run away to Canada as so many did.

Guys resented Sinatra back then because he was this skinny little geek who had their women swooning over him.

His role in "From Here to Eternity" permanently changed his image.
