Interesting, but kind of silly. They did the right thing, and they DID get word to the chain of command, but the word still didn't get spread. And at the time, they had no idea what it meant that the fleet was out -- hindsight always makes things so much clearer.

The Jap fleet struck Pearl from the northwest... where was this 'fleet' sighted on the Boises route to the Philippines? Maybe Sealover's been 'at sea' too long...

My father said that a japanese sub was sited in the harbor a few days before the attack. Everyone know about it
And Dec 6th was a big Christmas party for the officers on the island. Many commanders either didn't make it back to their ships or died in their bunks.
