Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.
Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.
Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the familys dog, Bucky.
Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.
In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.
The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terris church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.
In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.
In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.
On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pascos Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.
Admit it, you just want to start a fight...dontchya? I don't remember posting that my Mom died. I think it came up in our discussions later.
It sounds like you are the one who wants to start a fight. Please correct me if I am wrong.
And your point?
Is there something wrong with praying for a family when tragedy strikes?
The proper response to a prayer request is to either offer a prayer, or say nothing. Insulting the family is not the proper response.
Well said. I have to go but I hope you will all join me in a final prayer this evening for Bob Schindler's complete recovery and for his family's comfort through these stressful times.
And a blessed Christmas to all.
Will do. And don't forget to include FV's Mom your prayers.
Now you're putting words in my mouth. I NEVER INSULTED THE FAMILY. Please show me where that occurred. I was replying to someone's post. THAT'S ALL. You all are so freaking touchy. I do believe, however, that this family has been deified by many here, and I don't understand what that achieves.
Let's just leave it at that. Have a merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you too...and Happy Hannukah to me as well!
Pardon my gaffe.
Happy Hannukah Hildy! And a happy new year!
Robert Schindler, the father of Terri Schiavo, the disabled woman whose former husband won a legal battle to kill her via euthanasia, has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke. Schindler entered the hospital this weekend after a minor stroke and appeared to be recovering but suffered a second stroke Wednesday.
"That poor family. I will include all of them in my prayers!"
God bless you!
I am biting my tongue, actually my keyboard fingers, avoiding less than measured responses, as all the other topics of real import are on the table in this Christmas season. But I will avoid...
;)
I realize the Schindlers do not want lots of publicity on this event, but sure can use more prayers. Lord willing, this season of Christmas will inspire more prayers for his restored health. Mr. Schindler is truly a great man and father and is on my short list of heroes.
Robert was placed in the ICU and was suffering from right side weakness and slurred speech but cognitive function was unaffected.
Bobby told LifeNews.com the Schindler family was not seeking publicity about his father's case but word of his hospitalization leaked out over the Internet.
Bobby said at the time that his father and his family was in good spirits and looking to helping Robert undergo rehabilitation to recover from the stroke.

Former Border Patrol Agent Jose Alonso Compean attends a press conference and rally on Thursday, December 21, 2006 in front of the Old Orange County Courthouse where supporters, led by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher requested the President pardon both Compean and fellow agent Ignacio Ramos' conviction for the non fatal shooting of a Mexican citizen smuggling drugs into the United States. Compean and Ramos are both facing more than 10 years in prison.
Former (Border Patrol)agents can seek pardon (GOOD NEWS!)

Happy Hannukah and a glorious holiday to you, Hildy!
Happy Hannukah to you, Hildy, and a happy and wonderful New Year.

Robert Schindler has been described, rightly, I think, as an ordinary man who rose to extraordinary heights in fighting for Terri's life. He showed a gritty, unyielding moral leadership that will inspire anyone who fights evil. He showed a lot of us ordinary guys that we have God's extraordinary blessings within us for the asking.
I pray for his recovery and his continuing leadership.
Per 866, 875, etc. -- you know guns. Any explanation how a bullet lodged in forehead fat?
