Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.
Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.
Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the familys dog, Bucky.
Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.
In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.
The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terris church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.
In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.
In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.
On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pascos Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.
Every family has tragedy. EVERY FAMILY must face death. Why is this family so different?
Now that is a prayer for the ill if I ever heard one.
I'm sending the doctor a pair of pliers tomorrow.
I was responding to the poster who lamented that this family has seen tragedy....my point is EVERY family faces tragedy. I don't understand why this family is viewed differently.
Hard work.
How fat do you have to be to have enough fat on your forehead to hold a bullet?
You supported their daughter to be killed. She was killed. Why are you now so unhappy that someone wishes Bob the best?
Of course I wish him the best...I just don't understand why THIS PARTICULAR family has gained such a revered status.
The poster did not say this family is viewed differently. The poster said that this family had had "their share" of tragedy. That means it had the same amount of tragedy, not a different amount. This family is not viewed differently. This family is viewed the same as any family struck by tragedy. That's word the poster's words say. That's what the poster's words mean. THEIR SHARE.
I guess you mean it should not be mentioned here?
Every family has tragedy. Every family faces death. And every family is in need of prayers. I didn't see you complaining when the prayers were for your family. What makes you think the Schindlers are any different?
You refuse to acknowledge anything I say, reverting back to arguments that have nothing to do with what I'm saying.
You guys never address the points people make. Your post is ridiculous, actually. I specifically replied to someone who stated that the Schindler family had alot of tragedy in their lives. I simply said ALL families have tragedy. I wasn't saying he did not deserve our prayers...I was replying, specifically, to the notion that this family has seen MORE tragedy than all other families, THAT'S ALL. When did I ever ask for prayers for my family?
Okay, the Shindlers are bad people and they have no right to receive prayers. Does that make you happy?
Very interesting question, yes. I was also wondering what kind of load the other guy was using, to hit the kid more or less between the eyes and not have his brains blow out the other side. The may pose an ethical dilemma for Art Caplan's fellow bioethickers. If people start loading just enough powder to lodge slugs in the target's forehead fat, the supply of body parts available for cannibals will nosedive. They won't have have so many "brain dead" patients to chop up. Then what are the bioethickers going to do to earn a living?
I don't know if you asked or not, but I know prayers were offered when your father died. I wasn't paying attention to your posts when your mother died, but I'd be shocked if nobody offered prayers.
The statement was that the Schindlers have had their share of tragedy, not more tragedy than all other families. How much would be enough?
Raise the bar.
Maybe they could try stealing cars at this guy's used car lot.
This was the post Hildy. Do you see how you changed it?
I was replying, specifically, to the notion that this family has seen MORE tragedy than all other families, THAT'S ALL. - Hildy
The Schindlers do not deserve more tragedy than all other families.
