Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.
Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.
Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the familys dog, Bucky.
Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.
In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.
The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terris church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.
In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.
In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.
On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pascos Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

Mr. CRUZAN: What are you having today, steak?
NURSE: Iamolite.
Mr. CRUZAN: Boy, she sure responds to that voice.

Mr. COLBY: Hi, Nancy.
Mrs. CRUZAN: I don't think she's real impressed.
Mr. COLBY: Is this how she appears each time you come?
Mr. CRUZAN: Yeah, this is it.

Mr. CRUZAN: Boy, she sure responds to that voice.
NURSE: Yeah, she does. I can come in here and--

Nice picture of the 'tube' inserted. I couldn't of done better myself if I wanted to get someone killed.
What a positive attitude she had. It gives me a little bit of hope for the theys who are so bull-headed.
Surprise, surprise! Caplan thinks it's unethical to show proof that the patient is alive. He hasn't changed a bit. As we learned in an earlier post, Hitler's children are now more humane than Caplan. They learned from history. Maybe some day he will too.
Note to self: Call Mom tomorrow, and thank her again for being such a loving parent. Throughout my childhood, I thought all parents loved their children unconditionally. Thanks Mom!
He released photos and videos that portrayed her in a negative light, but, oh boy, did he ever get upset when a video was released showing what she was really like! It wasn't demeaning to show her at her worst, but it was demeaning to show her as she normally was. That was a violation of her dignity! Up is down. Down is up.
Thanks, 8mm.
O/T: there's been a special program running on the Discovery channel this week, and will probably repeat again. It's called, "In the Womb: Multiples" and it goes through all the stages of development of a child, shows when they become conscious of self, the forming of the heart, and many things never seen before. I highly recommend it.
>> "That sounds like a terrible breach of privacy at least in terms of ethics, if not in terms of law," said Arthur Caplan, director of the Center for Biomedical Ethics at the University of Minnesota."
So Arthur Caplan was an understudy to Ol' Humane Death himself in Minnesota. Not much surprise to see Cranford, Schiavo, Wolfson and Greer all show up for his conference last year at his new post in Pennsylvania.
No surprise, either, that when anybody shines a light on the murder scene, the perpetrators scream about privacy rights. Translation: no fair watching us kill our victim!!
I wrote my take on the passage before seeing yours. I guess this in the category of great minds thinking alike :-) :-)
Hey, wait a hot second! I was thinking, too, just can't remember what it was.
Thanks. Yes, I saw the advertising for that show, and I am guessing too, anytime such topics are televized they are devastating to the baloney about abortion. Brainwashed people must be shocked to see the blobs of tissue interacting in the womb as, well, humans.
Hope it gets lots of folks watching it. I will look for it if it is still showing.

That must be the most unsettling story I've read this year.
Let us know what you're thinking when you think of it :-)
Here is a bit of some happiness, joy. Let the death lovers wail and howl and gnash their teeth at this one who got away from their grips.
In answer to requests for more information on Scott's progress, we have the following update. Scott continues to improve daily through hard work and determination on his part. He continues to make all his own decisions about his daily life, what he will wear, what he will eat, etc. One of his latest projects is learning to speak Spanish. One of his caregiver friends is teaching him, and Pamela shared that she listens to the two of them speak in Spanish and has no idea what they are talking about! Scott's main project, though, is to work on motor skills. As mentioned before, he is determined to walk again, and is exercising to strengthen his muscles in preparation. He does arm and leg exercises, including riding a stationary bicycle. It will not surprise anyone who knows Scott to see him get up and walk someday. Keep up the good work, Scott! We're praying for you!

William Devlin, founder of Urban Family Council, a local faith-based organization that provides educational services to children, young adults and their families, is on a 40-day fast to protest the violence problem in the city.
As founder of the UFC, a community organization, Devlin has had much experience with fasting. Most notably, he fasted in March 2005 to protest the removal of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube.
Snip...
"We have a city that is filled with violence and I think that when you do something like this the one goal is change," Devlin said.
One such brush with violence that Devlin experienced himself in the city occurred in March 1987.
"We had just bought our first house [in the Logan section] and I was getting out of my car and a man approached me, demanding that I give him my money," he said.
Devlin didn't oblige and the man pulled out a large butcher knife. In the midst of a scuffle with the knife-wielding man, Devlin was stabbed in the arm.
"He knocked me out at one point, I was out for a good 10 seconds," Devlin, who now lives in Montgomery County, recalled.
"I got up and saw the man running down the street and I began to run after him," Devlin said.
"I wanted to help him."
He continued running, wondering why his arms suddenly felt so heavy.
"I reached up and felt the back of my head and the big butcher knife was in the back of my head," Devlin said recounting the horrifying detail that he thankfully survived.
"I just thought to myself, 'What can I do to be an example?' " he said. "It's very practical if you think about it.
"It's just one man's quest for change."

People, by and large, do the best they can to play the hand they were dealt. They have fortitude. They show courage and good spirits in the face of adversity.
There are exceptions -- losers who never grow up, who whine and complain, who demand that the world wait on them hand and foot. We call them liberals.
Sounds more like a form of trench mouth. Who is this Craig Shirley guy anyway?
Craig Shirley, a Reagan biographer who has spent years in the conservative trenches, said the GOP has veered badly off course, running up record deficits, pursuing a Wilsonian foreign policy "making the world safe for democracy" and becoming overly intrusive in people's private lives, whether intervening in the Terri Schiavo right-to-die case or seeking to ban gambling on the Internet.

Talk about sure-fire diets, if you fast to send a message to evil-doers, you'll never eat again.
