The Bush Administration has indicated it wants doctors, clinics, and hospitals to provide flu immunizations to illegal immigrants.
In an interview with KFOX-TV, Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt was asked if the federal government has any safeguards to prevent illegal immigrants from catching the flu. Leavitt responded by saying doctors should give flu shots to "every person."..............

Right now, an estimated 10 million Illegals pay into SS, but don't collect. The government (both Democrats and Republicans) need the Illegals to help keep the SS system afloat. Its just a matter of time before some Federal Judge changes that.
I'd like to know where that statistic came from. I seriously doubt it. There is no way to tell how many (or how few) illegals pay into SS. It is purely a guess.
And MY guess is these illegals are smarter than that. They DO NOT PAY INTO SS. They work the jobs which don't deduct SS. Nobody will say this -- because that would SHOW BEYOND ANY DOUBT that the EMPLOYERS are to blame, for paying these illegals directly.
The real problem is that these illegals are being hired. They should not be hired by ANYBODY to do ANYTHING.
No one is addressing this. It is like we want to have it both ways. We want cheap labor -- which just encourages the illegals to enter our country. Then we gripe about them entering the country.
And in most cases, it is the same people doing both!
I don't support your Know Nothing comment, but I agree: this is a public health issue and disease knows no boundaries.
But while we have them lined up for the injections......well....
It's still a problem if you are in the middle of an epidemic, even if you personally don't get sick. Bad for the econonmy, bad for work, etc, etc.
>>>Republicans now saying doctors should work for free and give medical stuff away.
They obviously learned NOTHING from the last election.>>>
We all knew they would get the wrong message. Instead of realizing how angered people were by their lack of Republican leadership, they assumed the masses wanted them MORE liberal.
*sigh* I give up.
This is a good idea if done on a personal private or voluntary private charity basis. Not more statism.
"People who are complaining about this would rather have an epidemic? Immunizations aren't only for the people getting immunized - it protects the entire population."
Why is giving them what they want always the answer? You have a problem with enforcing our laws so they leave? Or deporting them. What next? They demand we wipe their butts and we do it, for the sake of clean air?
I'm sick of citizens tax dollars paying for this! Will we CHARGE MEXICO?
"People who are complaining about this would rather have an epidemic? "
No. As was explained more then a few times on this thread. Give 'em the friggin boot, not a needle.
"They can't round 'em up to deport them, but can to give flu shots? Gimme a break!"
SHHHHHSHH.. We all know this is a ploy to get them to come in so we can ship them out right ?? RIGHT !!
Hey the tracking device in the flu shot, that's a good idea. Put the detectors at Wal-Mart and instant deport. Who says it can't be done.
I heard it on the news the other day - perhaps FOX. There are approximately 10 million SS numbers that don't match up. Employers collect the money, and turn it over to the Government, but it doesn't match any SS numbers on record.
"Justifying lawless socialism with more socialism doesn't work. Google up "circular logic"."
Thank you.
How about some immunization first?
ping
I had to pay 25 freaking dollars for my flu shot.
I don't believe a word of it. My opinion, that is simply a lie intended to divert attention from the real problem. It is falsehood, trying to get some people to believe that by allowing illegals to work in this country, the country is getting something for nothing. Don't believe it!
If that were true, then the IRS knows the name and place of employment of 10 million people who are not filing annual returns.
All the IRS has to do, is file "income tax evasion" against any person (any social security number) who doesn't file an annual return. Since the employer is collecting the money from their paychecks SUPPOSEDLY, the IRS knows exactly who/where these people are.
Common sense tells me this is NOT THE CASE.
I would much rather have them kept out. Heck aren't they bringing in all kinds of strains of TB?
