I was a military dependent living in Taipei, Taiwan, ROC, where my father was stationed with Naval Medical Research Unit #2. My mother woke me up that morning with the news that the President had been assassinated.

I was in Navy Boot Camp. We had just finished eating lunch in the Mess Hall, gathered outside in formation to march to our next class.

Our Company Commander walked up to our Company and announced that the President had been shot in Dallas. Never forget his words... "I think the man is dead."

All remaining classes that day were cancelled. Keep in mind, in boot camp we had no television, no radio, newspapers only available on Sundays. Our CC brought in a radio and we were able to get information from radio news. On Sunday, every newspaper available was purchased and passed around to anyone who was interested in reading the info.

Hi, Anne of DC:

I was in the second grade at St. Matthias School in Lanham, MD.

The Sisters brought in a TV set and we spent a lot of time watching the news (Cronkite) until we were sent home early.

I still think Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, without the aid of a massive conspiracy.

Jack.
