Excerpt -

MEXICO CITY (AFP) - Defeated leftist presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador donned a "presidential sash" before a crowd of thousands, calling himself Mexico's legitimate leader.

Lopez Obrador called for "the start of construction of a new republic against a neo-fascist oligarchy" and announced the formation of a "parallel government" to "protect the rights of the people."

In a symbolic "inauguration" in the capital city's central square, he said "it is an honor to be the legitimate president of Mexico."

Followers of his Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) have threatened to disrupt president-elect Felipe Calderon's December 1 inauguration. Calderon is succeeding President Vicente Fox.

The only thing Al Gore was missing was the sash. (Photoshop opportunity for someone)

A RINO certainly beats a true communist (who seems less stable than Howard Dean), though. At least he won't send (as many) millions fleeing for the board.

It sure as heck does matter. A RINO is better than a leftist and Calderon is better than a communist.

Sounds like a full blown call to take up arms against the government down there. Typical liberals, can't accept defeat.

When we get the majority of Mexicans over here, they can vote the leftists out there, and introduce peace, prosperity and freedom as novel concepts down south of the border, down Mexico way.

"...before a crowd of thousands..."
I thought he had millions backing him a few months ago in exactly the same place.

Well I take a different view of RINOs. Rather than just trash them like an idealist I view them as necessary evils in the real world of politcis in places like the NE. Better a RINO than a dem. Any Republican Senator - RINO or otherwise - is useful in providing the votes so Republicans run commitees rather than dems. A Republican run commitee as pathetic as it can be is much much better than a Ted Kennedy or a Charlie Rangel running a commitee. A Republican led commitee can affect the makeup of the Supreme Court, tax cuts, etc as we witnessed. RINOs can be useful idiots.
