Causation vs correlation error shown here. I believe a more accurate title should be "Criminals prefer pitt bulls over other breeds"
study of 355 dog owners in Ohio showed that every owner of a high-risk breed known for aggression had at least one brush with the law, from traffic citations to serious criminal convictions.
So if you own a pitt bull type of dog and you get a speeding ticket, you are labeled a criminal owner of a pitt bull. Sounds more like propaganda to me.
You need a pit bull to keep the other thugs from stealing your drugs!
My neighbor is a 50 ish bank employee (for last 30 years) with three grown daughters and a pit bull.
The liberal lunatics also think anyone who owns guns is a criminal.
"Dog of Peace" Alert!
The most aggressive dogs I own are the Pit Bull/Shih Tzu mixes. The pure pit and the half pit are sweethearts.
I will say that due to their strength, pits can do more damage by accident than most dogs can do on purpose.
Duh!
While I believe this connection exists, I think the definition of 'criminal' is a bit broad. I don't think that I know a single licensed driver who does not have some sort of traffic citation.
That's got nothing to do with criminality, and everything to do with revenue enhancement.
Laz posted something a few years back about "majestic mountain poodles" that was hilarious. Something about their head-butting breeding rituals, their little skulls making a "clack clack clack" sound. It was a real monitor risk if you were drinking any type of liquid at the time.
Having now picked myself up from the floor where I was LMAO at the stupidity of this article, I would like to direct your attention to the conflicting information contained therein. The article condemns an entire breed of dog based on the behavior of 355 criminal types in Ohio and concludes that terriers are one of the most low risk dogs a person can own. What stupidity! A Pit Bull is a TERRIER!
Before all of you jump on me for trying to "defend the indefensible" because I happen to love them, I will tell you that I was 1 of 3 people who successfully opposed the city of Huntsville, AL, in their effort to completely exterminate this breed. The city pursued their case all the way to the Supreme Court and lost. The Alabama Supreme Court ruled that there is no evidence to support that a Pit Bull Terrier is inherently vicious or aggressive. I noticed that Reuters and all main stream news agencies were conspicuous by their absence when that ruling was handed down in August 2003. Heaven forbid that this breed should receive any positive publicity since that might upset the dingbats at PETA.
Also, just for the record, my father was almost killed in a completely unprovoked attack by a German Shepherd; however, my grandchildren have used a rescued Pit Bull Terrier's tummy for a pillow many times without incident.
Criminals More Likely to be Pit Bull Owners.
Gimme a break.
We better get those hardened traffic violation criminals under control!
Wouldn't it stand to reason that the traffic violators would own greyhounds? Or, Saint Bernards?
You have my pitbulls when you pry them from a burglar's cold dead buttocks.
My husband and I have not committed any crimes, nor have our two daughters. We have owned an Australian Shepherd, two German Shepherds a Chow-and even our present dog, a Siberian Husky is an excellent watchdog. There are a Bullmastiff, a blonde Lab, an American Staffordshire (pit bull), a French Bulldog, two Rotties, a Chihuahua and a Yorkie among the dogs on this road-all are good watchdogs, but the two last-named dogs are the only ones who have bitten anyone-this study is bull**** in my opinion. We have a sign with a picture of a pistol on it that says "We don't call 911" on the window beside the back door, too-does that make me a criminal?
Come on now I sees the gangbangers walking their beagles all the time.
Tell me what breed of dog you own and I will tell you what kind of person you are???
I thought that only applies to cars! :)
Anyone who knows ANYTHING about dogs is that they take on the characteristics of their owners.
A sociopathic owner makes for a sociopathic dog.
It has little to do with the breed.
Ask Kanawa, whose dog ( Pit Bull) stood on a bear last summer, giving Kanawa the chance to jump on the bear and stab it to death with a Buck hunting knife.
If anyone has earned the right to speak about Pit Bulls, it is Kanawa. No dog has a criminal profile au natural. The owner makes their dog that way.
Its the same with guns , people mistake the illegal use of guns as evil in the gun itself. Same with dogs. That thinking is simply MOONBAT Socialist logic. It has no place in a free republic.
When I was a kid, our neighbors had a pit bull. This was 40 years ago, when nobody knew what a pit bull was. Old "Tuffy" was a sweetie, he loved to play tug-of-war, and he let toddlers crawl all over him. He wasn't too cool about strange dogs, but he didn't attack them.
