Isn't CBS the network for old people... like Baby Boomers!

;-)

Except for history, football and a couple others, it is drivel.

It's not just the boomers.

I hear the hunter-killers aren't happy with what is on the tube either.

Expect a crush of anti-boomer responses.

But, as a boomer, I can only say that most shows on TV are just plain silly for any age. I still find things on cable like news, Discovery and the History Channel. And love a lot of HBO programs.

But the networks offer next to nothing.

"The Harris Interactive study found that half of baby boomers say they tune out commercials that are clearly aimed at young people."

I tune out all commercials unless they are innovative. I detest drug commercials from Viagra to Lunesta. I like the Volvo commercial with the little girl and the iShares commercial where everything disappears, but I am not in the market for either of those things. I no longer watch any sitcoms. They are all retarded. I do not watch Survivor, American Idol or that Dancing with the Stars thingy. I like 24. I like House. I usually have FOX news on in the background. If I can't take anymore of Shep, I turn on History Channel. I am 55.

It's been years since I've been able to converse with the water cooler crowd about anything on regular TV. I don't know that it has anything to do with my being a so-called baby boomer, most of regular TV is junk.

Now, you want to talk football, Discovery Channel or History Channel and I'm all over it.

With several hundred options on, I can't see how anyone can complain about TV, especially those who grew up with 3 networks, if they were lucky, in black & white.

I find TV is better than ever right now. I watch:

Prison Break
Heroes
Veronica Mars
Friday Night Lights
Lost
Smallville
Supernatural
Ghost Whisperer

I've never been much of a TV watcher, so it's incredible that there's that much for me to watch. I think it started by my wanting to watch HD programming, and these are the shows that stuck.

That said, probably at least half of that wouldn't appeal to the average boomer.

The TV lineup on the networks is pretty sad.

At least we have 24.

Network TV isn't programed for anyone who THINKS regardless of age. If some FEEL they target certain age groups such as their own, the problem can somewhat negated by spending more time reading here, and maybe post once they have learned something.

An additional one-third said they'd go out of their way NOT to buy such a product.

LOL

Sometime within the last year or so I responded to a telephone survey about television advertising using almost the exact phrase, "I'd out of may way NOT to buy such a product."

I'm 49 years old.

I'm surprised people here haven't discussed why the Left-leaning nature of much TV programming is turning off way too many viewers, too.

The only thing I watch regularly is History Channel, some Discovery Channel (especially the wonderful Mythbusters), Fox News Channel, ESPN, and ESPN2.

Most TV programming is targeted for people under 40 IQ.

No good shows? Why, I caught the excellent The Monster that Challenged the World two times on cable last week.

Ya know what pap is? The crushed up bananas, mashed potatoes whatever that you feed infants or old people? Nothing to it really.

That's what tv is and movies as well. Empty-headed pap. No substance and no redeeming qualities AT ALL!

There's no originality in hollywood anymore. If you watch real close, everything's a remake. Did the world REALLY yet ANOTHER remake of King Kong, Lone Ranger, Zorro, Three Musketeers, Count of Monte Cristo, Mission Impossible and on and on and on and on ad infinitum, ad nauseum????

No originality at all in TV Or movies.

Except reality shows. The studios LOVELOVELOVE reality shows. Cost them a small fraction of what genuine content programming costs them. That's why there's such a heavy focus in the news telling us over and over how we love reality tv. Survivor has to be THE stupidest thing that I've ever dreamed in my worst nightmares could be put on tv. Absolutely, horrendously stupid.

The only reason that I own a tv is that it powers my vcr where I have taped over a thousand movies that I can watch. Without that, I'd ditch the tv as not worth the investment. My wife and I earn over 100k per year and we don't watch tv therefore we don't put ourselves into a position of watching advertisers or buying their products. Let these tv "execs" think about that.

Empty-headed pap and lefty claptrap. that's all you find on tv or movies nowadays.

Godspeed

The only shows I watch on network TV are "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy". Other than that, it's Turner Classic Movies, History Channel and it's international version and Military Channel.

Boomers remember a time when good family values and old fashioned patriotism was in vogue.

The current brand of crap on TV is a giant middle finger to all who enjoyed traditional programming. TV does its best to alienate a huge customer base and is scratching its head and saying "What happened?"

Genius.
