Kerry says gaffe will not stop him from running in 2008

Senator John Kerry has said a gaffe last month widely seen as a slight against US troops in Iraq would not deter him from considering the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.

Grilled on US television Sunday about his political worth as a presidential hopeful after his verbal blunder, and asked if he had given up hope of a future White House run after losing to President George W. Bush in 2004, Kerry, 62, was adamant.

"Not in the least. I'm looking at it in the same way," he said in an interview with Fox News Sunday television program.

"My team is confident and strong," Kerry said.

However, the Massachusetts Senator said he had not made up his mind about running again.

"My decision would be somewhere around the turn of the year, beginning of the year," he said.

Kerry, a former Vietnam War veteran, caused an outcry when he said at an October 30 political rally that Americans who neglect their education would "get stuck in Iraq."

He apologized for his remark, saying it was never intended to insult US troops, but blamed the "Republican attack machine" for the controversy surrounding what he had said had been a "botched joke."

He withdrew from campaigning for the November 7 legislative elections to avoid becoming a distraction.

Delusion is good for the Liberal soul. Bwaahaaahaa...the Swift Boat Vets won't even have to "Swift Boat" him, his own party will.

And rightfully so.

He's right, it won't affect 2008. He didn't have a chance before the botched joke, and he doesn't have a chance now either.

We know for sure that Hillary won't forget his comments. Then he'll remind her that he served in Vietnam. Ah it'll be fun.

It will stop him from winning, though.

I think it is a good thing. If anything, it eats up campaign money that Hillary will need for her run.

Now if only Al Gore can join in on the fun.

Clueless! Non-apology apology. Thinks he can win. It's amazing he did so well in '04 and now that people see even more of him, the less they like. This can be good news for GOP but only if he gets the nomination--can be easily beaten.

What will probably happen is he'll run in a couple primaries, lose big, then give up the run and go for his Senate seat again, thus disappointing the likes of Marty Meehan who
were hoping to move up to the Senate. (Would Mahhhhty
run against Kerry in a primary for Senate?)

Have yourself a Kerry little Christmas
Cozy all the way
While the seat of power is so far away

He's just one more big lib in the Senate
thanks to W
He won't live on Pennsylvania Avenue

Ketchup heiress has lots of dough
Lots and lots of dough, to spend
It won't buy him the White House though
For the voters know, my friend

Mondale, Gore and also Mike Dukakis
Know just how you feel
When you're seen, you just don't have any appeal
So have yourself a Kerry Little Christmas now

Bee Gees:
he is going back to Massachusetts
Couldn't win the White House if he tried
And they still love him back in Massachusetts
They voted for him, through all those times he lied

Got a lot of votes in San Francisco
NY and LA, they loved him too
But he's still going back to massachusetts
The Swift Boat Hero left Democrats so blue
