I hope my fellow Freepers will stand with Rudy and not be swayed by the terrible lies that are about to come...
Hmmmm lies...such as!
1) Rudy is not only "pro-choice" but in 1999 declared he is even "pro partial birth abortion" and that he wasn't going to change his mind on this!
2) Not only does he support gay rights, but in the 1990s despite the personal plea of Cardinal O'Connor, Rudy marched in "Gay Pride" marches past St. Pat's.
3) The man openly cheated on his second wife while mayor, going so far as to install his mistress in Gracie Mansion!
4) Endorsed Mario Cuomo.
etc etc etc.
Do you honestly think that such a man could get the support of social conservatives????
Seriously, go home and try again.
I am on board. There are many of us, but we are getting attacked. So put your helmet on. :)
I like Rudy a whole lot. In fact, I would say I'm actually fond of the man. I think he is a good man who walks the walk and a shrewd politician. But here comes the BUT: I do not want a president who is pro-abortion, pro-gun control and pro-homosexual marriage. If the position of president didn't encompass the ability to move the country in those directions, it would not be a problem. But the office of president does have the ability to move those agendas and others forward through the appointment of judges and by signing legislation into law.
Much as I like and admire Rudy, I won't be voting for him if he runs. His positions on these important issues have been his for a long time, and I don't trust politicians who flip-flop on these issues just to suit party primary voters. His divorce doesn't bother me in the slightest.
And so the watering down of all we hold dear continues...
"I hope my fellow Freepers will stand with Rudy and not be swayed by the terrible lies that are about to come..."
Sorry Wiz, but Rudy is out of step with too many key planks in the Republican Party platform. Not terrible lies, but simply terrible facts. His stand against the Second Amendment alone is a non-starter for me. Add his support for gay marriage and late-term abortion, and you have a Republican who is Republican in New York Only. (RINYO)
But let not your heart be troubled! After the 'Rats have succeeded in destroying John Bolton, President Bush would be well advised to nominate Rudy for the post of Ambassador to the United Nations, a position for which the former mayor is well qualified and wouldn't even have to leave New York in order to serve. I have no doubt he would be approved by a unanimous vote of bi-partisan approval.
FYI...
Is it a lie that Rudy is:
Pro-Abortion?
Pro-Partial-Birth Abortion?
Pro-gay marriage?
No! These are all true, and confirmed in his own voice.
Forget about it Rudy!
Keep your life preserver handy, cause the good ship Rudy took on water before it left the dock! GOP/RNC, no way, no how. BTW, which terrible "LIES" are you referring to? I've seen zip/zero/nada LIES, just his record. Blackbird.
FR has completely gone to pot the folks here endorse a welfare statist who broke party ranks just to campaign for Mario Cuomo! Chuck Hagel (who was right all along on Iraq and solid on the free market) is a far better choice.
I'm in.
He wasn't my first choice, but he can win, he will be tough on crime, and he will make a great CinC.
And he's not McKook.
What 'terrible lies'? Do you mean lies like his 'supporting George McGovern for President and Mario Cuomo for Governor'?
Whatever you have been smoking, I'd normally like some but it seems to have turned your brain to mush. I'm from NY, what do you know of the situation other than what's fed to you in the media?
What about the America AT HOME? The America that is being left to rot while the media and other internationalists smokescreen us with constant bombardment of issues abroad. Internatinoal Islamic fascism may very well be the most important battle of the 21st century but we are losing the battle at home for Liberty, and Rudy is not the guy we want to help turn the tide back.
The best article I've read about Rudy:
