I think Steele would amke a good man for the job, only I hate to see him taken out of state politics. We have Babs Mikulski who has to make another Senate run in a couple of years , Maybe he could beat her and get a Senate seat.

It seems to me that the Republican Party needs new leadership at the top levels. Steele would be as good as many and better than most.

This is a dumb idea. Nothing qualifies him for the post. It smacks of some kind of politically correct diversity plan, along the lines of 'Condi for President!'.
If Republicans don't get their head out, they'll be waiting till long after 2008 to reclaim the Congress and the Presidency. They had their 'Perfect Storm' chance and blew it. Starting with replacing Newt Gingrich with the non-controversial, nice guy, who was a highschool wrestling coach, Dennis (Denny) Hastert.
They need to get real for everybodies sake,

I am not sure that we should risk on someone who can't even win an election. 2008 is way too important for risks. I would rather him wait until after 2008 and get the job. I want someone who is strong within the Republican party and get the job done. This individual whoever it ends up is going to have to raise an unprecedented amount of money to at least equal what Hillary is going to have and already has way ahead of the election. If others think I am way off then explain it to me. I like Steele so if I have this wrong or looking at it wrong I can DEFINITELY change my position of this.

White House moves the past year (Tony Snow excepted) have not been of the smart variety. So I'm not holding my breath. If they don't offer it to Steele they are idiots.
