Thanks, Rod. We lead them by 30 seats in the House. Now, they lead by 29 seats. Out of those 29 seats, 23 seats were won by 1000 to 2700 votes. If our candidates stick to our party & President without "distancing" themselves, the results would have been different.

I am hoping we get a zillion reasons why we lost today, if we do it won't happen again.
We already have quite a few.

"If our candidates stick to our party & President without "distancing" themselves, the results would have been different."

I agree w you Anita. Pelosi had the Dims corraled and most did not dare speak out (except for a few 'botched' jokes and misstatements by Dean - which everyone expects).
Not only did the Pres have the media and Dims and foreigners spinning against him on the WOT (including Iraq), there were those that are supposed Pubbies that did him NO favors - McLame, VP Lindsey Graham, Pat B, et al, and, of course, those at the Weakley Standard with Kristol (I want McLame to be Pres) one of the worst. Other supposed 'conservatives' such as blathering Savage didn't help either. And, the 'leaders' in Congress were not out there selling our message - - I'm glad Hastert and Frist are stepping down/leaving their leadership roles.

We need some fresh faces in leadership who will be on top of selling our message and calling the Dims on untruths, bad policies, etc. I pinged some of you to a thread on Alexander being in leadership, with Lott thinking of running, etoo. We need to try to stop this!
IMHO having Lamar or Trent as the face of the Pubbies in the Senate would be a disaster! We need Sessions, Cornyn, Kyl, Coburn or Chambliss to be out there as the face of the Pubbies in the Senate telling our message.

In the House Pence or Shadegg would be great.

They need to get over themselves about seniority and leadership and do what's best for the party and the American people.

Alexander says he'll be whip

Sen. Trent Lott is being coy about whether he'll run for minority whip in the GOP leadership elections slated for Wednesday. But while Lott plays his cards close to his vest, his presumptive rival, Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., has already declared himself the winner.

It would also help if we'd quit damning our side when we disagree with one issue or another. Last week many people got down on Brit Hume because they believed he had abandoned us. Not so. I presume Hume was looking at the numbers and realized we were in trouble.

I could say the same for all the mostly or usually conservative pundits. We have to get over our knee jerk reactions to their opinions.

That brings up a parallel notion to AB's proposal.  We need to watch the pols, particularly the ones on "our side," and call them on things they do and say.  This kind of stuff is always most effective when it comes from a constituent, so we'll need to put out a call for FReepers local to an individual politician when we catch them at something, but we should all be keeping an eye on all of them and bringing it up here on FR.

I'm going to add info to my about page listing the politicians who I have access to vote for (or against).  I'm also going to encourage others to do the same.

The top of the list is

Senator Lamar Alexander (soon to be Minority Whip?)

Senator elect Bob Corker

Representative Marsha Blackburn

I'll get the complete list, including state and county offices, and put it on my about page.  I'll also get the list of committee assignments they're each on.

I'll work on a tag line or a standard disclaimer that I'll add to posts soliciting comments on those on my list.  Something like

I get to vote for Senator Lamar Alexander, Senator Bob Corker and Representative Marsha Blackburn.  Have you heard or seen them do or say anything that they need to hear from a constituent about?  Please ping me about anything related to them.

Joe Negron only lost by 2 percent, and he won in my County, but only by 300 votes. He should have won here by at least 2000 votes, and would have despite the name being Foley on the Ballot. we had that pretty much covered, and the Democrats had that down pat so you know the Republicans did. There were some people that could just not bubble in Foley's name, but when I started talking about the Gay Nudist Colony in the South end of our County and how some of their Doctors, attorneys and accountants, etc were in the closet Gays most of them accepted their task willingly. There was another Major problem here, and I am sure it is a microcosm for the Country. we have had turncoat Republicans that backed Democrats and trashed Republicans and stupidly thought that they could remain in leadership. They got kicked out and then really went off the deep end. One former Party leader had access to the GOP Voter Vault GOTV set up by Karl Rove, and I am sure he turned it over to The Dirty Rats. The rats were able to steal Voter Vault and use it, since they have no ideas of their own,and they were effective using that system that they stole.
