However, I am going to use this information to help make a decision on where I buy my Christmas gifts and other things.

I try to avoid most department stores during the Christmas season anyway, so it doesn't bother me. I can understand the Happy Holidays thing. More folks than just Christians purchase gifts for holidays during the winter.
If they want to advertise Christmas fine, if they don't, fine, too. MY Christmas won't be spoiled either way.
