Iraq Qaeda chief says Rumsfeld fleeing battlefield
Reuters ^ | November 10 2006

Posted on 11/10/2006 5:29:44 AM PST by jmc1969

A purported audio recording by the leader of Iraq's al Qaeda wing said outgoing U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld quit to flee the Iraqi battlefield.

Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri, said in the recording posted on the Internet that the group has 12,000 armed fighters and 10,000 others waiting to be equipped to fight U.S. troops in Iraq.

"I tell the lame duck (U.S. administration) do not rush to escape as did your defence minister ... stay on the battleground."

Stung by a "thumping" defeat at Tuesday's Congressional elections, U.S. President George W. Bush said Rumsfeld had resigned because there was need for "fresh perspective in Iraq."

Bush said he was open to any idea for a new approach and publicly reaffirmed a belief that "victory" was possible in Iraq. The change of guard raised speculation it was meant to pave the way for a swift U.S. troop withdrawal.

The speaker vowed allegiance to Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the head of a Sunni Islamic state comprising Iraq's mostly Sunni Arab provinces which was announced in October by al Qaeda and groups affiliated to it.

"I say to ... the ruler of believers (Baghdadi) I vow allegiance to you," he said. "I put under your command 12,000 fighters who are the army of the al Qaeda," he said.

The speaker called on fellow Sunni insurgent groups in Iraq to join ranks under the Islamic state.

"Still no word from Zawahiri or Bin laden"

Anyone know who the Al Qaeda guy was that we captured on Monday? It's not one of the big two, but I don't recall the identity being confirmed.

If Americans thought gasoline prices were high, just wait until Iran is the biggest power in the Persian Gulf. The Democrat base doesn't care, since they all ride bicycles.

The "good news" have been covered-up by the MSM for 2+ years now, all in preparation for the Democrats rising. They wanted a 1 term President Bush and when they didn't get that they targeted the congress in the guise of "America" wanted a split party government but they only managed to pull it off by offering up a bunch of Blue Dog Democrats. Watch how fast the MSM starts reporting the positives from Iraq giving the Democrats all the credit for "forcing" change and getting rid of Rummy. If this story was a story a week ago the headlines would have been,"2 Soldiers, 1 Marine Killed in Iraq, Violence Surges" but now it's "Iraqi Forces Arrest Al Qaeda Leader; Violence Claims 3 U.S. Personnel". The tone is starting to change already from the MSM because they got what they wanted, a change in Congress.

Guess this is just another lesson of many we are soon to learn

And, I fear, learn them the hard way.

THE DEMOCRATS DON'T UNDERSTAND WE ARE AT WAR. THE REPUBLICANS DO.

“The point is this isn’t a war to win, it’s a situation to solve. And you define ‘winning’ any way you want, but you must solve this problem.”

Pelosi Says Iraq Is Not "a War To Win"

The pullout started as soon as the President Poll numbers went below 50%. If you noticed the MSM was ever so happy that they could now attack at will and engage in 27/7 reprogramming of the American people. This is why the MSM hated life so much when Bush was at 70% approval they were just waiting for a crack in the armor. Then there was Abu Ghraib.

Abu Ghraib was also when Present Bush went full PC with the war fighting. The reason there is still a lot of bad guys still alive is because we did not kill them. Reports of finding combatants back on the battle field for the third time after being let go after capture can only go on so long.

The American people let us stay there for almost 4 years. They expected better results.

I saw a report yesterday that a 150,000 Iraqis have died since we invaded. So we are being blamed for all the civilians that the insurgents have killed. Would the American people think any different if that number was 350,000 and most of the bad guys were DEAD?

We will soon be leaving Iraq. We would have been leaving soon any how. The MSM made the war unpopular and the 2008 race start now. Is there any presidential candidate that could win with all the troops still in Iraq?

The Iraq government now knows that they will soon be on there own. They must fight for there country or die, this is a good motivation to work harder and I hope they do. If the generals were smart they would tell them we will be leaving and you best get ready.

The Iraq government has been saying for a long time that we have not allowed them to use more force and we should turn over most or all of Iraq to them and let them do what they want.

I keep hearing that they can't run the country yet which is bull. They control the oil and have billion in cash flow. If they can't form an army and buy a few used Russian boomers then they aren’t trying hard enough.

Kill the bad guys and all who protect them and you will win. Because of PC bull we can't do that maybe they can.

The real fight with the Dems will be if they will even allow us to have any bases at all or a protection force to help protect the Iraq government. I’m sure they will demand 100% withdrawal perhaps with a agreement that we will not return or provide any type of support for the Iraq government.

The Ds, Pelosi, said that Congress actually won't be able to change the direction in Iraq all that much after all. The worldwide applause at the election results probably drowned out that statement. But wait! Wasn't that the primary reason for the D sort-of victory?

"I tell the lame duck (U.S. administration) do not rush to escape as did your defence minister ... stay on the battleground."

They're also asking the democrats if they'll keep their promise to surrender in Iraq. FOX is discussing it.

Electing democrats gave the terrorists a huge victory.

The voters don't understand this enemy. The liberal press didn't want to up set a democrat victory, but these people WANT to die in battle. To them, death is a victory.

They'll also come here if we don't fight them there. They will fight to the end to destroy the "Great Satan." It doesn't stop in Iraq. Remember, We weren't in Iraq on 9/11.

If anyone heard Gaffney last night with Humphries it will shake anyone up about events now and to come.

His thoughts (and he studies these things) is that the enemies we have share a common theme.

That is they have DISDAIN for anyone perceived weak and UTTER CONTEMPT for anyone that has power but is afraid to use it.

He said that this will result in attacks on us.

His website has archives and you can listen, Gaffney was on in the second hr. after bottom hr. break.
