On the same day President Bush promised a new bipartisan Washington, he began efforts to get two of his most controversial decisions approved before the Democrats take over Congress.

If the Dems want bipartisanship they need to sign him back up.

Well, we can credit him for doing one thing right today. Now we'll see if the condemned GOP majority will summon the balls to follow through. My money says they won't.

What's with the "NSA domestic surveillance" program - I thought it was the NSA terrorist surveillance program ..??
And .. I thought it went through already .. why is this being discussed again ..?? Have I missed something ..??

Good news--the President has NOT completely rolled over.
Repub leaders need to twist Chafee's arms--physically if necessary-to drop the hold on Bolton.
Dem inaction or obstruction on the NSA issue will result in them being hit over the head with " the dims won't protect you" mantra.
The two year countdown to the 2008 election has begun.

Bolton may go down, but at least I want to have the chance to see him go "Scorched Earth" in the hearings.

I know it's expecting too much, but there's no reason why the Pubbies shouldn't just ram through all the business they've been pu$$yfooting around with for the last 6 years. Make the tax cuts permanent too. They've got nothing to lose.

I've heard he can't resess appoint John Bolton again. If he could, I'd just do that again.
If he can't, this is an easy one: Recess appoint RICK SANTORUM! He needs a new job I hear.
It would drive the D's batty.
To: Libertarian444
There is nothing controversial at all about Bolton.
Unless you hate America being well-represented in the UN.

The primary reason that the Dims don't want Bolton representing the USA in the UN is because they want the USA to sign onto the UN plan to ban small arms for ordinary citizens everywhere in the world.
This would circumvent the US Constitution including the Bill of Rights (Esp. the 2nd amendment) and finally result in the "One World Order" (I.E. One World Dictatorship), which is precisely the agenda of the Democratic party.
Bolton has been a champion for gun rights and has told Kofi Annan and the rest of the UN to stick that idea where the sun don't shine!
