Charlie Rangel opens his mouth...and mocks the South: (hat tip: reader CRB)
Its not just committees our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously, Mr. Rangel said in an interview.
To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.
Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi? Mr. Rangel said.

but who the hell wants to live in MississippiI've driven through there. Very friendly folk. The elitism and snobbery in Rangel's remarks should get a trip to the woodshed in response.

Well, Charlie Rangel isn't in Mississippi, so that's one thing it has going for it.
To: WBL 1952
Of course, the MSM will be all over this.

The good hardworking folks of Mississippi seem to have managed to pull themselves together far better following Katrina - as opposed to New Orleans?
Yet it's the Dem Senators from LA that continue to demand a $100B in federal handouts?

Yes. This will be repeated just like all other Dem statements of arrogance, meaning: "Try to find it anywhere tomorrow."

I would love to see the new chairs of House committees to hold hearings on Live tv. It will be so enlightening to voters across the nation. Intelligence? haha Homeland Security? haha (Alcee Hastings as Intel chair and Bennie Thompson as HS chair) It would be classic entertainment.

Dang, you beat me to it.
Well, at least Harlem doesn't have fire ants.

The Democrats downhill run for 2008 has begun.
Let's keep quiet on the whining and let them shoot themselves in their own feet.

I'll take Mississippi over New York anyday. At least Mississippi doesn't put people like Hillary R. Clinton in the U.S. senate.
President Bush better hold the line on gun rights. He appears ready to sell the country down the river on immigration, so Bush can at least support the second amendment, right?

Note to folks in Mississippi: Rangel's from NYC, BTW. Not Upstate NYS.

I happen to live in Mississippi and you are right, at least Rangel isn't here.
However, there were many republicans on this web site that said the very same thing after Hurricane Katrina, I disagree with both. It's a great place to live.

If we ever do decide to throw in the towel being conservatives behind enemy lines, Mississippi is way up there near the top of the list!
