John Nichols: For republic's sake, Pelosi must ponder impeachment (Barf Alert)
The Capital Times (Madison Wi) - Via Wisconsin State Journal ^ | 11/09/06 | John Nichols - Associate Editor

When my friend Salli Martyniak heard that Nancy Pelosi would be featured on the CBS news program "60 Minutes," she got excited. Like a lot of professional women who have been turned into political activists by six years of Bush-Cheney-ism, Martyniak busied herself during the recently completed election campaign doing everything she could to end Republican control of the House. She put the right campaign signs in her yard, she hosted fundraising events, and she knocked on doors and made calls on behalf of the campaign to change the Congress. And she lit up at the prospect of the first female speaker of the House.

But when Pelosi's segment aired on "60 Minutes" three Sundays before the election, Martyniak said, "I was shouting at the television. How could she say that? How could she so miss the point of being an opposition leader?"

What was it that so infuriated my friend and millions of other Americans who want this election to be about holding an out-of-control presidency to account?

I was surfing around looking for local election results in Wisconsin and came across this "gem" published in the Wisconsin State Journal.

After reading it, I came to realize why Madison is looked upon as a hotbed of liberal idiocy by many Wisconsinites and a lot of the rest of us.

Opinions or comments - anyone?

as much as i know pelosi and other leaders in the dem party won't go down ipeachment lane, I would love to see it as it would greatly help the republicans take over in 2008.

For "republic's sake" impeachment hearings now becomes just a part of the job description for a President.

The left are going to go absolutely battie when they realize their Washington masters used them like a $5 whore. There will be no impeachment. No soup for you!

Impeach him by all means and I hope all the conservative republican senators then vote to convict because we will have a President Cheney for the remainder of this term. That is why the democrats dare not impeach him.

Dear God, I sure hope the liberals try and impeach this President, because, it will spell the end of liberalism as we now know it in America.

After listening to Bush bend over for Pelosi, I would LOVE to see it happen.

What the hell "republic" is this moron talking about? My last ballot had 19 damn "propositions" on it! That my friend is the mob doing the politician's damn job. That is called a democracy and it really sucks.

I was going to forward this out to some liberal friends but it's so poorly written I don't think they'd understand it.

Well, it will make for some diverting TV until the Democrats successfully transform "Jericho" from "television drama" to "reality show."

"I was shouting at the television. How could she say that? How could she so miss the point of being an opposition leader?"

The viciousness of the left in full flower.

What's the charge? Carrying out the duties of Commander-in-Chief?

Isn't a little early to start talking about impeaching Pelosi?

;)

Nancy MIGHT ponder, but she will NOT do it. They are stupid, but not that stupid....well....Actually for real, I don't think they are going to be jerks for this two years. They are talking BIG TIME bipartisan. Reed on Fox News just said he was very much going to work with the Republicans....we'll see.

I think the RATS better be very careful with this. I would not mess with the Bush family, it could boomerang back on you 3 times over.

Agreed. An impeachment against a sitting President that fails in such a tightly split country as this merely energizes opponents. Simply put, you can't impeach a President because you disagree with his predictions. You have to have evidence of illegal conduct.
