I saw that, too. I've been told often that protectionism and isolationism are not the way to go anymore. Too bad.

I'm looking down on Post Oak Boulevard right now, watching city workers put up Christmas trees. My drive home down San Felipe to Briar Forest is anything but filthy - I see some of the prettiest homes in Houston. Those are indeed beautiful areas, and it is evident that you like to stay inside them and avoid the rest of Houston like a nice little snob.
Tell me about the area surrounding the Wal-Mart at Wilcrest and 59? That Wal-Mart reflects the area around it.
I wouldn't expect a snob like you to shop at the Wal-Mart in Sugar Land, but the one I shopped at at Hiway 6 and Hiway 90 was and is quite clean.
Your disdain for Wal-Mart is more a reflection of your arrogance and sense of superiority than anything else.

I don't think you can really compare the economic picture back then with the economic catastrophy facing us today.
What do we export??? Agricultural products?
Look at our military and police - they buy Italian and German guns. I thought we beat THEM.

"I'll shop where I can get the best price." I am told by a large cabal of Freepers that it is my patriotic duty to pay more for something so as to deny Wal-mart profits and to support the labor movement in the US.
Can't we just save time and have the Democrats raise our taxes by 50% and have them divy up the cash to their supporters like the labor movement and such?

I don't think you can really compare the economic picture back then with the economic catastrophy facing us today. Uhhh...
Did I miss something?
Last week unemployment was at one of the lowest rates in history.
What economic catastrophe did I miss?
Or are you just praying for one?

Would you like to go with me and see for yourself. I am sure the Christmas decoations are out now considering Thanksgiving has arrived yet. Or you can check for yourself. Oh, now you are backing down on your statement. You claimed EVERYTHING sold in the store is made in China, including Christmas decoations.
Your claim of everythig is what I am asking for proof of. However, since there is no truth in your claim you are unable to prove it, and thus you try misdirection.
Do you care to have a discussion about how WalMart sells products made in many different countries, including the United States, just like the majority of other major retailers, and in very similar proportions? Or do you just wish to throw out fallacious talking points of the anti-WalMart leftists?

Well, admittedly that was a poor attempt at facetiousness. It gets old being the responsible nation of the world. Especially when no good deed goes unpunished.

"How can you say "quality cars"? "
Before emission controls came into effect, Americans DID make quality cars. I know people who put 200,000 miles on Dodge Valiants and Pontiacs easily, and even more with routine maintenance.
Something happened after the emission gadgets were required. Its as though American technology never could quite handle it. I usually buy Toyotas now myself, but certainly not for the price. They cost more than American cars but are of higher quality. They are so dam reliable. Take care of them and the body falls apart but the engine keeps running.
I think the American Truck were better than the cars, but they use more gas than the Japanese models of comparable weight.
I just don't understand why America can't produce the same quality cars they made before the emission gadgets were required. If they did, I'd buy them, even if the price WAS more.
I think in the long run, you save money when you buy a quality reliable product that lasts rather than a piece of cheap junk.
Maybe its because modern day Americans are so into immediate satisfaction. They want it now, even if they can't afford it. I remember when half the fun was working and SAVING to get that car or gun or tool or whatever.

I am so sick of people who search for reasons to get their panties in a wad about Wal-Mart. I hope this thing falls flat on its face.Ditto.

It is so sad that the rest of the pedophilic community has been left out of the equation. What about support for the pedophilic, necrophilic and beastophilic community of progressive consenting humans?

Obviously, many folks have WAAAAAAY too much time on their hands. Maybe, for our sake it's preferable they keep tabs on the daily activities of WalMart......keeps them busy.

I think its an economic catastrophe when we are importing more than we are exporting overseas. I think its an economic catastrophe when our military-industrial base has been compromised by outsourcing overseas. I think its an economic catastrophe when skilled work is replaced with selling hamburgers at MacDonalds or stocking shelves at Wal-Mart.
Right now, the picture may look good, but this can't continue. You can't get more out of a system than you put in, and inevitably, our need to buy most or all of what we need from overseas while exporting very little to balance it off doesn't make sense to me.
Does it make sense to you, or am I missing something?

Your preference for insulting me over sticking to the thread topic has driven me away from the thread. Your topic was "Walmarts in Houston are filthy," and my response was "large sections of Houston are filthy and that's where you find the filthy Walmarts."
I stuck to YOUR topic.

Why, yes, how very astute of you to notice that their needs haven't been addressed at all! [/s]

As I stated, it's pretty much all bad attitude of the workers in franchises.
I wasn't talking about 1-off shops - which vary. ;-)
Anyone who has attitudes like some of these people have is a loser. I certainly wasn't directing "loser" at anyone who is actually courteous and helpful.

Maybe AFA should just sign up with WalMart's affiliate program and get the same type commission deal going with them.
I have never looked into WM's affiliate program, as I am no longer doing that type of website business, but this programs are so prolific it would make your head spin. some are not worth wasting time with, others are excellent.......but the fine print needs to be read for qualifying for all of them.
