For God's sake, let that warrior rest in peace.
In summary, these American soldiers were tired, hungry, low on ammunition/supplies, performing a difficult mission in a remote, hostile environment/climate against a treacherous enemy and they take two friendly-fire casualties. Oh yea, let's send 'em to jail (/s).
Exactly! WHO heard him say this? A survivor? A shooter? The AP imbed?
These soldiers already feel horrible enough, and will be haunted until their graves. Naming them serves no good purpose.
Interesting read. Let's hope this information is used by the military to prevent blue-on-blue fires.
But folks are right - I doubt the information is being reported to inform readers, and more to point fingers of blame at President Bush, SECDEF Rumsfeld, etc.
I, for one, would like to get to the bottom of this, if only so that the military may learn from it, and to provide closure to the fambly.
"but that is SOP for SF units"
I'll go further than that. Being tired, short on ammo, water and chow is the norm in most military operations that last longer than a day. This article shows a remarkable lack of knowledge or experience on military operations.
Yup. Bush is a Cowboy fan and he wanted Tillman out of the way.
Fine! YOU track down the three that are no longer in the Army and you can interrogate them yourself.
Quit posting shat articles from an organization that provides much of the propaganda that is helping the terrorists crush the will of the USA to do what is right and an organization that cheers in harmony with "those who love death" with each blow to the USA.
This shat happen in war. Get over it.
Why is A(f)P) getting access to restricted information? More B.S> spin. As if P.T. would stand up while under fire, friendly or otherwize, and wave his arms and yell don't shoot! I'm Pat Tillman!
Yea right. Thats' sooo believable.
After two years of wind and rain? NOT likely. What kind of fairy tale B.S. is this? How can jornalists who weren't there re-enact anything? Do non- existant "blood stained rocks" talk?
Just like they did at Gettysburg and Antietam?
Had it happened in the United States, the police would have run away screaming for the Army.
Absolutely. It's a tragedy sure -- but FF happens in every war since forever. Tillman is a hero and this story is a disservice to his memory and to the other soldiers present.
The hits just keep on coming.
No. Once out of the military, the UCMJ no longer applies to you. It applies only to the military. Perhaps a federal charge could be brought, but not a UCMJ. Now, if the person were a retiree, or a national guard or reservist who was back in his home town and not actually in uniform at the time, back at his civilian job, then yes, that person could be brought back. But, not a civilian who simply did his enlistment time and was now out.
Can't they the hero rest in peace?
It's nothing more than the "fog of war". It was an awful tragedy, no doubt, but if the guy was just some average Joe from Kansas, instead of Pat Tillman, football superstar, it would barely register a mention. Friendly fire is a part of warfare, deal with it. As the LibDems like to say, it's time to MOVE ON...
What the fk is YOUR point?
If you don't like it, don't click it.
"War is a series of calamaties that result in victory." - Clemenceau
They're not just indifferent, they're probably glad it happened. It gave them some propaganda fodder.
Cordially,
