Per AP
I don't know....I don't know anything any more. I can't even bring myself to listen to Bush.
1. He admitted his mistake, and that's the first step toward not making a similar one in the future.
2. He didn't have the authority to start up the fighting again, not unless our guys were directly attacked. He was TOLD to stop, TOLD to let Saddam do anything domestically that he wanted to do, and TOLD to put his thumb up his arse. He was a soldier, i.e. a taker of orders from his civilian and military superiors.
Yeesh, I first read the headline as "Bill Gates......". Need more coffee! :)
..Rummy will always be a hero...
He won't be the Majority Leader officially until the next session.
Yup.
I'm only part suprised Brent Scrocroft didn't get the gig
So when does the Baker Hamilton appeasement plan get revealed?
The Senate makeup won't be official until Montana and Virginia are settled, as in recounts (if pursued) are finished.
Having said that, it's just about impossible for a VA recount to gain enough Allen votes to keep that seat GOP. The margin in Montana's a bit closer, but probably out of reach as well. Just too many votes to make up. The Senate is gone.
If Rummy was leaving, it needed to be done immediately so Bush will not have confirmations with a DEM house.
See my last post, he's been involved in Bakers policymaking group of late. You can assume this means Baker's recomendations, whether withdrawl or dismemberment, will become policy. This would be consistant with our recent support for Fatah and Hamas, and the establishment of a palestinian state as a cornerstone of our foreign policy. I guess my only question is why now, this decision wasn't made last night, and it could have impacted the election if anounced a month ago. And frankly, voters had a right to know. Even if it meant some of GWB's supporters would be disillusioned.
FYI.
Can we say VIPS?
Anyone know Rummy's email address. He needs to hear from us.
They need to be retired for at least 10 years. Federal law, though I cannot quote chapter and verse.
I was thinking the same thing!
It makes Bush look like he can be cowed.
Why now???
There is no reason for another American to die in Iraq.
Bush has just surrendered. Pull out immediately.
If any success was the aim, the foreign policy makers, Rice, etc, should be gone.
The military leaders are not to blame.
I can't blame Rummy. Why would he want two years of the Dims investigating and blaming him? And the military bureaucrats have turned on him. This election was their chance to bring Rummy down.
Rumsfeld is not going to work for a bunch of liberals. He is smart enough to know you just can't work with these people.
When the democrats pull us from the war in Iraq they want have Rummy to kick around.
Oops, forgot about that. All Aspin does now is cast Dim votes in inner city precincts.
Having said that, he'd probably do a lot less harm to the military dead.
