He'd never make it through the senate. Anyone to the right of Wesley Clark won't either...
To: bahblahbah
That might have made things even worse, made us look weaker then we already did look.
To: Texaggie79
Yeah -- like that would have made all the difference!
To: listenhillary
I wonder if he will still have to go to the hearings. :)

Investigation target If folks think that Rumsfeld resigning will stop investigations by Dems, well, you're mistaken...

FoxNews confirms that resignation will happen and be effectively immediately.

AP ^ | November 8 2006 Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, a key target of Iraq war critics, gave no indication Wednesday that he planned to step down in the wake of Democratic midterm election gains, his chief spokesman said. Eric Ruff, the Pentagon press secretary, said he participated in meetings with Rumsfeld on Wednesday morning and heard no talk of changing war strategies or of Rumsfeld leaving his post. |

Actually I can see his point. Why fight when your country wants to be like the French? Good luck Mr. Secretary. You were one in a million. Thank you for your service to the country. You deserved better than you got from my fellow cowards.

This is just feeding, rewarding the vultures..it is immediate and postive reinforcement to them. Perhaps the President has overriding reasons - we will soon know...

In further developments, Cindy Sheehan will be taking the post. That wouldn't surprise me in the least. She's bound to take this as her personal victory.

Sacrificial lamb.Needed change. IMO we clearly need a larger military, but Rumsfeld refused to budge from his vision of a leaner machine despite growing evidence that his vision was not working.

I wish he hadn't done this, but if he was planning it for a while it might have helped the elections if he had announced it a month ago.
