Add to that his promise of undying support for Rumsfeld days ago. This begins to look like two years of "read my lips" backtracking and doomed attempts to appease the leftists instead of resisting them.

It is Rumsfeld's doctrine of throwing unnecessarily limited resources at Iraq that has gotten us where we are. You win wars by using overwhelming force.

Well, I think the dim wins are a sign that people want a change in strategy in Iraq. Maybe the fact that pubbies weren't willing to try something different is why we lost. So, why not try something different? Smart people do that sometimes, reevaluate, make changes, adjust to changing circumstances, etc. Just some thoughts.
