Please Mods can we have one central Live thread ...its tough jumping from thread to thread to get results.
It's not a free-market tool. It's socialism. It kills jobs and it kills small business, which is the backbone of the economy, and it attracts illegal aliens because all wages go up relative to productivity.
The earner's mothers don't have to subsist on dog food, or they wouldn't if they'd planned a little better and/or their kids (FAMILY!) were more generous or better planners themselves.
Are you talking about the lockbox where he kept his mothers medicine she couldn't afford? heheheh
Jones is going up, too. Just damn.
Thank you - that is exactly my broader point. It is the party's responsibility to attract the voters.
You mean Burns is up 49-48 in Yellowstone, right?
If so, it's not enough.
The House was absolutely right about immigration, or at least border control and illegal aliens.
I don't know of any Big "L" Libertarians on FR.
We know that. And the RATs know it. That's why they voted for these "moderates" this time, instead of throwing a temper tantrum about how impure the candidates were.
It depends on where the vote is out from. There are some RAT-leaning precincts and then there are some serious red areas. 14% is nothing.
I know. It was a poor, late-night attempt at humor - throwback to Algore, the old lady, and the dog food.
They may have taken a bigger hit percentage-wise, but if we hold the senate, it's really a much smaller hit. The control and committee chairs are more important than the percentages. Control and chairs are real world; the percentages are an abstraction.
A vote for the Republican helps the Republican
A vote for the Democrat helps the Democrat
A vote for a 3rd party helps neither the Republican nor the Democrat - it is neutral.
By your logic, a person who votes for the Green party is helping the democrats.
Not sure where these votes came from, but I know it's not Yellowstone or Meagher.
Tester (RAT)162,294 49%
Burns (PUBBIE) 158,675 48%
Jones (L) 8,454 3%
Lead is down to 3,619.
Agreed. Not gonna happen. Chirac must be drooling in glee about now. Those eyebrows of his must be bouncing off his eyelids.
I basically did an econ 101 class on this very issue on our local website, and finally got through I thought, taking these folks step by step through what a business goes through, like it wont, be just 5 dollars and whatever change they are raising it too there will be another 7.5 % on top of that for the matching funds businesses has to pay and so on. Then someone on the boards said, well prices go up anyway so we might as well have a little more money so let's vote for it.
It was then that the headaches and the eye twitches started so I went and screamed at the passersby on the sidewalk for a bit.
I think I am allergic to stupid people.
Marker - 4:50
The senate only took a smaller numerical hit because they had less to incumbent seats up for reelection. The Senate wasn't rewarded and the House punished.
Found where those numbers came from... Good news. Burns polled way ahead of 2000 in Cascade.
Tester (D) 14,652 49% 100% of precincts reporting
Burns (R) 14,497 49%
Jones (L) 528 2%
Lead down to 3,619. Fingers crossed.
Actually, such a person helps the Republican, who is more likely than the Democrat to oppose the Greenies' political agenda.
My hope is that they becomes as cocky as so many FReepers did a couple of years ago. I want to see them insult us and gloat and generally act in unseeming ways that turn people off. I want to have them over-reach their mandate, throw caution to the wind, feel an imperial throne beneath their ample rumps--all while the electorate takes note and feels a growing resentment within.
I want to have that arrogance pay off for us in two years. Otherwise, I fear for what remains of our republic.
