Please Mods can we have one central Live thread ...its tough jumping from thread to thread to get results.
Thanks for the update. MT seems to have taken down their results page. If you get another update, please post it. Thanks.
I have been using CNN's website, which breaks down the votes by county. It is about the only thing CNN is good for. :)
Try this:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/results/states/MT/
81% of precincts reporting
Tester Dem 143250 50%
Burns Rep* 138389 48%
Jones Lib 7386 2%
4861
Nice move from:
79% of precincts reporting
Tester Dem 142082 50%
Burns Rep* 136403 48%
Jones Lib 7225 2%
5679.
Corker won. Don't worry about it.

Odd, but somewhat true.

Burns broke 5000; now a 4861 vote difference.

Tester Dem 143250 50%
Burns Rep* 138389 48%
Jones Lib 7386 2%

Montana numbers coming in faster now:
81% of precincts reporting
Tester Dem 144544 49%
Burns Rep* 140547 48%
Jones Lib 7532 3%
3997... and closing.
Is this worth staying up or is this headed for much later this morning?
Don't ever expect a Democrat to go away nicely. Remember 2000
If the Dems are thisclose from gaining the Senate, they will lie, cheat and steal to put themselves over the top. Remember Washington state, 2004?
Whoops; just reposted your info.
I can't see Knox County going for Ford. Local radio has some Knox County results in -- do the official state totals not have any Knox County results?
Montana counties still to report:
Fergus moderate Rep
Glacier moderate Rep
Lincoln moderate Rep
Philips strong Rep
Cascade moderate Dem
Mineral moderate Dem
Gallatin - even
Yellowstone - even
Meagher - even
Lake - even
The combination of out of control spending and the GOP's lack of action on illegal immigration had a depressing effect on the base. The Iraq War is also not as supported among the base as it was 2 years ago.
The illegal immigration issue was the tipping point that finally convinced many republican voters to sit this one out. Since both the democrats and the republican parties have the same policy on illegal immigration, of course it isn't going to show up on any exit polling.
Many of us warned the GOP months ago and especially this spring during the illegal immigrant marches that if something substantial wasn't done before the election that the base would be depressed and the party would take a beating.
This thing is going to go right down to the wire. Conrad Burns can save the GOP from losing the Senate. Wow. Can it really happen?
81% of precincts reporting
Tester Dem 144544 49%
Burns Rep* 140547 48%
Jones Lib 7532 3%
3997 vote difference! I'm staying up, but it's not a rational decision, as Yellowstone County might not be recounted for a while.
Good grief. Duckworth.
I thought they had to recount in Yellowstone?
And now look at Congress, compared to what it was yesterday. Brilliant!
