We're s@rewed for the next couple of years!
Actually, now it's like 9/11 never even happened.
Only FReepers are aware of this, unfortunately.
LOL -- bastardess!!!
Oh great, is it going to be chadgate again but this time in Montana? For the Senate?
Hi, Howlin,
gee, I go away to India for a few weeks, and all hell breaks loose back home. Guess that is the last time I do that...
Guess I have to change my Irey tagline...dang it.
Wow, you certainly have a different view of history. I've never seen Newt or anyone else claim that the check kiting incident had anything to do with the republican take over in 1994.
The nation was scared to death from Hillary's nationalized health care plan and Newt's Contract with American was a welcome sight.
Democrats had been involved with scandals for generations - the reason the Republicans won is because they had an actual plan and intent to govern as conservatives.
What we are going to get is finger pointing and a bloody fight for leadership positions. I seriously hope some contenders for roles who aren't going to win in the end just stay out and let's rally behind new house leaders.
I have no clue what the colleges teach, I did not waste my money on one. I instead got an education at the library.
BTW I was on the front lines in 90-95 working campaigns locally. Talked to many folks, lots of Democrats and got lots of folks locally to switch parties. Check Kiting was usually the clincher!
78% of precincts reporting
Tester Dem 141174 50%
Burns Rep* 135884 48%
Jones Lib 7194 2%
5290 vote difference.
I wanna move to Alaska now !!!
Yellowstone County uses optical scan at their polling places.
I was as well, going back further than that, and in 1994 the check kiting issue was never even brought up. Fear of Clinton's socialized medicine and other programs was the catalyst.
79% of precincts reporting
Tester Dem 142082 50%
Burns Rep* 136403 48%
Jones Lib 7225 2%
5679.
Does anybody have updated numbers for MT? Their election results page seems to have croaked.
TN update: Corker took a beating in Davidson Co. (Nashville), but he's still up by 3600 votes, 2.1%. Knox Co. is the only remaining county not in yet. Knoxville is 16% black, but it's in the far eastern part of the state (very red).
I know TN has been called, but it looks like it's still on the tableo me. Knox Co. is fairly large.
Don't you just love SOS websites (e.g. MT) that do not give you a time, number of precincts reporting out of total for each county, and percentages. We have no way of knowing if the votes reported for a county are totals or partials so no way of knowing what is left to count.
I didn't say it was the only thing. But even the biggest powder keg will not blow unless you got a spark, and the Check kiting scandal was more than just a spark!
We got two years to set the stage and I just do not see a turn around that quick. Especially if we allow the troops to pull out and the Iraqis get hammered.
Every Iraqi mother and baby slaughtered will be blamed on Bush and the Republicans. You think the MSM is bad now, as Al Jolson would say: "You ain't seen nothing yet!"
Your earlier post was the one that related to my post to you.
Did you *follow* where that one came from?
If you did, you would've found out that your earlier post came from an even earlier post and was someone else's words.
So if you really want to accuse someone of *bashing* maybe it would be more factual to go to the source.
I hope that helps.
Are we to 50,000 yet?
