Please Mods can we have one central Live thread ...its tough jumping from thread to thread to get results.
That attitude will get you nowhere. Blaimg Third party candidates for your loses does no good. Got to focus on all the Caonservatives who did not vote (yes there were millions who did not vote)
Actually what happened tonight is exactly what happened with Reagan at the 6th year midterm -- lost all the close Senate races and the Senate majority -- we went from 53-47 to 45-55, loss of net 8 Senate seats.
"when are you running? I would vote for you!!!!"
The only thing I'm running for is the county line. ;)
Murtha's angling for Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. What do you think he'll put DOD through? All we're going to have is a paralyzed Congress, and scandalmongering .. hearing after nauseating hearing for the next 2 years. I am sick.
oh man, Susan Estrich on FNC - not good for this time of the morning.
What do you think?
Is Burns going to pull this out?
It's a living nightmare; just call it hell on earth.
photo finish of the nite: 6 precincts to go Wilson (R) NM-1 up by 151 votes.
Pray for them. The odds of the fledgling country surviving are not good, but the Iraqis know far better than the Americans the perils they face and the importance of the task ahead of them. They've tasted freedom, and we've built them up somewhat. Not as well as we would have liked, but perhaps with God's help they'll still pull it off.
In hindsight, it seems that we never got back the momentum we had before the Foley nonsense. So, becuase of one perverted individual and because of one stupid word that a good man (Allen) said, our nation is going to be less safe, terrorists and rogue nations will take heart, we'll all pay taxes and it will be at least another generation before babies in the womb get the protection they need. This is just what we know now........Words do have consequences, which I think is something Limbaugh says--and he needs to tone down his arrogance and be more careful about what he says. Looks like his comment on Michael Fox didn't help, that's for sure.
Looks like all Republicans from the most conservative (Santorum) to the most liberal (Chaffee) and everyone in between lost big, but as someone else pointed out all the Freepers with a "mindset" can find someone they didn't like anyway to blame for the losses. The only reason that you and I can both call ourselves Reagan Republicans is because Reagan was able to join all manner of conservatives, libertarians, some one issue voters, and almost anyone right of center, and turn us all into Republicans. Unfortunately, those days are long past.
Nobody has explained where they are getting their numbers other than from CNN. The media gets their numbers from the secty of state's office. So, you are wrong. Nobody has explained to me where the numbers came from that are so different from the website. I, however, have explained what was said with regard to Steele and Baltimore, Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
If he's lost, then I'm sorry, but I would appreciate it if you and a couple other would stop calling me dense and other names because I dared - horrors - to use the secty of state's website to get my information!!!!!!!!!!
And God forbid I should dispute CNN, which was not even pointed out until AFTER I had been called a few choice names.
By the way, as for name-calling, YOU are a JERK! And that should be a word small enough for somebody as RUDE and DENSE as you are to understand!!!!!!!!!
No, I think it's over for Burns. There's too many Democrat counties yet to even report in.
Nobody in the GOP, with select exceptions, let the party down. We got our base to the polls and they overwhelmingly supported our candidates.
My sense is that we lost independents 3:2, and that made the critical difference in many close races. I further believe that Catholics flipped back to the RATS over Iraq (I am Catholic so I can criticize my own). Married suburban women (formerly security Moms) also stupidly voted against their own husband's paycheck because they are tired of Iraq.
I didn't want to note it at the time, but when all those people kept posting the RYMB pictures, I couldn't help but recall that Patton said that about a guy who was about to lose big.
Now that was a brilliant post.
Tell me, where did the media get their numbers for MD?

It may be close, I'll be surprised if there's a recount, but at this point, it's looking like Burns is toast.
I agree about Foley, but that of course only explains one aspect of this election.
We had Iraq + the 6-year itch as major headwinds.
