What? Bush didn't build a wall to keep illegals out so the base voted for a Dem who'll give illegals amnesty, 40 acres and a mule instead? Interest and utterly ludicrous logic. If you voted to teach a lesson, you failed.

Indeed!!

Many believe if it doesn't affect them *personally* and have a tangible affect on their day to day lives, whatever the government decides is ok. True sheeples. They don't think about their lives in the context of the nation.

Speaker Pelousy has a bitter sound to it, but perhaps it will put some fire in the belly of the GOP.

It may put fire in the party but at a dire cost to the nation.

Speaking from personal experience, there are a lot of very far left activists in B'ton that would not hesitate to stuff ballot boxes (at the very least).

I demand a recount!~

Quote: "Bullshit. The majority of these election results are the fault of the terribly biased reporting of the MSM."

You know, it has ALWAYS been this way and used to be worse when there was only the big three (coming again, of course, with the passage of the Fairness Doctrine). Still, the Republicans managed to win elections. In my opinion, we lost this election because of Iraq. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we should have, but unfortunately, the voters have gone back to sleep. They forgot 9/11 and are onto smaller and more trivial things. Like it or not, the American People, since even the Civil War, have not been accepting to long wars. Hell, we almost chucked our own revolution.

...but it's clear that in many states, conservatives either voted for moderate-to-conservative Democrats to punish the GOP, or stayed home all together.

I don't think real conservatives stay home or vote for Democrats.

BTW, name won race where the Democrat was more conservative than the Republican.

Enjoy your Marist pigs controlling government, thanks to Rove and Bush.
OK, Sore Loserman.

The talking head on Fox is now saying that the Bush Admin has just said there are "interesting possibilities" in spite of the Dem win in the House for working issues out. Guess what they mentioned as the interesting possibility? It's passing the immigration reform bill that Bush wants, just as he wants it, in other words, amnesty. I warned this would happen as Bush would win on this issue if the Dems won in the House. And now it shall be. Bush will get his amnesty plan and our nation will lose. I'm so disgusted with Bush I could almost puke. Bush sees this Dem win in the House as an opportunity for his pet legislative bill, giving amnesty to the illegals.

Any insights or predictions on which segments of Republicans sat this one out?

Good question...and I suspect two groups that did: Reagan Dems and lots of social conservatives.

Fact is that most voters sat this one out. What is it ??? less than 35% voted...?

This is media created event...not an election.

some of these soldiers are going to start wondering whether the american people (on the whole) are worthy of their sacrifices - and in a volunteer military, they may decide not to participate. I can't blame them if they were to decide that.

"So how does that jive with the need for us to be more conservative? Most of the Indes I know are really pretty liberal. Actually lean Dem most of the time."

Here is how: we have to be more FISCALLY conservative. Most Independents do NOT like taxes and do NOT like debt and waste.

We aren't going to be able to keep our base by being more socially moderate (although Independents would love it if we were, because they are markedly libertarian), so this will always be the Democrats' advantage.

Mostly, we have GOT to devise a strategy to WIN the war in Iraq, in the nearer term. President Bush said "Stay the Course". The country said "NO!" tonight. They don't like the course. So now it's up to the military establishment and the White House to develop a strategy to move things faster. There's an obvious one, but they don't want to do it.

And would someone please tell me how electing a Dem in Arizona is going to help stop illegal immigration more than a Republican?

The question is why there aren't enough Arizonans who care about illegal immigration. Our hardliner District 8 conservative Randy Graf is -14 against the ACLU board member, NRA F-rated, corrupt commie Gabrielle Giffords, at this time. She has convinced the electorate that she is a moderate, and "moderate" plays here.

Lib voters don't understand history or long-term consequences. They want their free stuff and their moderateness and their "caring".

KEY precints left to report in TN:

Outer Shelby County: mostly GOP (Germantown)

Surrounding Nashville counties: Willimason, Wilson, Rutherford, Sumner; all mostly GOP with Williamson being the MOST GOP county in the state. They still have polls voting.
