WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse defeated Republican incumbent Sen. Lincoln Chafee (news, bio, voting record) in Rhode Island on Tuesday, giving Democrats a key win in their effort to take over control of the Senate.
Television networks CNN and Fox projected that former state Attorney General Whitehouse beat Chafee, a member of a prominent Rhode Island political family and probably the most liberal Republican in the Senate.
Allen is up by a little more then 13K votes....
Same here.
He seems almost disappointed.
Didn't Rahm Emmanuel promise them a landslide for both chambers?
Then they get the government they deserve... so much for whining about not being able to get ahead and then they vote against a man who could be a phenomenal senator to represent their state.
Do you have a link?
thanks.
It does not matter what the majority of Iraqis "want".
The future of Iraq is being decided by the laws of War, not by politics.
War crushes majorities and rearranges things based on brutality, ferocity, and risk-taking.
All those people did by putting their fingers in purple ink was to put their families in mortal danger.
Me too. What a trooper. Someone else said tonight killed Rudy's chances because all the moderates are going down. Wrong. Rudy could probably carry New York (or at least make it competitive.) He'll be our next president.
Yep .. Mrs. Bill Clinton
It didn't take long for the scavengers to attack the carcass.
MSNBC is insane... now they are doing projections on the projections and putting making up a +- 10 seat margin of error to make that "prediction"
The Japanese are smarter than the majority of Americans it seems.
I thought they were joking yesterday..when someone said that the reason our Stock Market had gone up so high..was because they anticipated and WANTED a DEM win!!
GAG ME!!
look at the msn site. And note how the numbers are shown in the house. They list dem wins, rep wins. But you really gotta look close to notice that the two don't add up to the total number of seats in the house. 435 seats total. They show 170 seats dem. and 146 seats rep. That don't add up to the total. They are not telling the whole story. You gotta read the header to notice that there are 119 undecided seats. That means it aint over by a long shot.
Which is why I did not vote for him the first time around. It was with more than a little intrepidation when I did vote for him the second time.
One good thing is that the Republican senate now becomes much more Southern now that we have got rid of the whining "moderates". I predict Collins and Snowe turn blue.
Not 100% sure.
lol!
"As I see it, the MSM are the real winners, they have the power to influence an election and I believe, wholeheartedly, that is precisely what has happened in this election."
1000% correct . Frightening, completely outrageous...a mind numbed, shallow electorate molded by the great puppetmasters of soundbite manipulation.
And we, the thinking culture are haplessly caught up in it.
Madness.
Urban centers have always been the last to report, everywhere, for as long as I can remember. Not that these areas are devoid of vote fraud, but all the "how many votes we need" stuff has always struck me as fantasy nonsense.
