Warning: What to Expect
Self | 11/7/06 | LS

All right, folks. Guess I have to do it again around here and hand out the chill pills.

1) It is absolutely clear to me that we have won this. We will keep the Senate, and I'm 90% sure we keep the House. We'll probably gain a seat, maybe two in the Senate.

2) I know this from the turnout numbers, just as I did in 2004. The fact is, forget Indies. They don't vote in high numbers. It's all about the two parties, and who gets out their base.

We have done that today beyond my wildest expectations. The info we have from the Hotline on turnout is overwhelming, and in virtually every key state, we have exceeded Dem turnout by 2, 3, 4, or 6%.

As I predicted, we are seeing a Dem UNDERVOTE. They are underperforming, esp. in key states such as OH. However, they are underperforming far worse than even I dreamed. We are looking at 20% in Cuyahoga County! Brown and Strickland couldn't get elected dog catcher with that level of support.

SO HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT: THE MEDIA IDIOTS HAVE THEIR TEMPLATES. THEY WILL BE VERY SLOW TO COME AROUND. IT WILL BE A LONG NIGHT, BECAUSE THEY WON'T BELIEVE THEIR EYES.

They may even "call" a few House races, maybe a Senate race, based on some ridiculously low "exit poll" and have to recant later. Be patient. The turnout numbers suggest we absolutely cannot lose.

"The GOP leadership will see the error of their ways and return to genuine conservative government principles.

That is how I will look at it, so I will be positive. :)

You'll have to put a number after your positive...;)

The reason we are having such a difficult time is that our guys ran "genuine conservative" and governed m o d e r a t e.

FNC did this in 2004 as well. They make money off advertising and the biggest (read most expensive) time slot is until 10:00 EST and then swings West for 3 hours. Does it surprise you that the "surprises" came late when advertising dollars were then at a low rate and CNN and FNC could backtrack gracefully with only the pol junkies watching?

FOX just rescinded a call on Menendez. Gee, ya think maybe they actually looked at votes?

Dickerson up in IN-17 (pickup), one of the two GA races is a pickup, the other close; Sekula-Gibbs walking away with the Delay seat. Foley's seat has Negron ahead, although it's close. So what started out looking horrible is not looking quite so horrible now when we ACTUALLY COUNT VOTES.

Yes, they called it for Brown over DeWine with 9,000 votes counted. Good Grief!

Unfortunately, I have to go to bed early ( something I have NEVER done on an election night; not even when I worked! ), so I was hoping that I'd get at least a "feeling" for how it was going, before I had to go to bed. That "feeling" is now a sickening emptiness in my stomach and knots in my guts.

I hate Emeril! Who is on after him?

Well you know Al Gore had it right when he said: "you don't know who won the election until you count all the votes. Every vote counts and each and every and all votes must be counted."

Yeah the MSM news people are really bad now. Most of them are now de facto Democrat operatives.

The Sekula Gibbs win feels very good. I'm actually in TX-22, and it made me sick to think that Lampson was going to have the district (which is so gerrymandered no democrat should win it for 30 years) handed to him for nothing.

We might have to savor the small victories tonight...

"Again, I'm not buying ANY calls. Just looked at the local news. They "called" OH governor with 1% of the vote. Sorry, I think we learned SOMETHING from 2004."

Does anyone else on this thread detect anything fishy? As in: Why in the world would the dems file a suit to keep polls open in heavy dem areas of greater Cleveland, exhibiting an extremely low dem voter (only 20% !!) turnout, if the election were a slam dunk in their favor??? It's more likely the MSM is "calling" all these races quickly so, in the event Republicans catch up, they've laid the basis to scream "fraud"!

Bingo.

It ain't over 'til it's over.

I expect we'll see a lot of "shuffling" of some traditional seats, but the Republicans will add one or two to the Senate and at least four to the House.

Well, we gained two already, one in GA and on in IN. We lost one in IN and I think one in NH.

But, despite some b@tchy posters here, it does look like things are stabilizing. Sekula-Gibbs in Delay's seat is now safe. Foley/Negron ahead. Thelma Drake ahead.

Allen up 20,000, but a lot of counties to come in.

Fox already backtracked on calling Menendez. Bet before this is over, there are a LOT of backtracks.

That's my view, esp. when some places have 25% of their votes absente and counted last? Come on.
