Thank you very much for your comments. As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
This is the finest military that we've ever had. I have fought a lifetime on behalf of veterans. We have the finest young men and women serving us in the United States military that we've ever had, and Im proud of that. As a combat veteran, I know the dedication, integrity, and commitment of American troops. I've lived it. Had George Bush and Dick Cheney lived it one minute of their comfortable lives in combat they would never have sent American troops to war without body armor or without a plan to win the peace and they wouldn't be exploiting our troops today.
The White House's attempt to distort my true statement is a remarkable testament to their failure in making America safe. It is a stunning statement about their willingness to reduce anything in America to raw politics. It is textbook Republican campaign tactic. Try to change the topic; try to make someone else the issue; not the policy, not their responsibility.
I apologize to no one for my criticism of the President and of his broken policy. If anyone owes our troops in the fields an apology, it is the President. It's their willingness to distort, their willingness to mislead Americans, their willingness to exploit the troops, as they have so many times at backdrops, at so many speeches at which they have not told the American people the truth. Its George Bush's broken policy that kills and maims our heroes in Iraq every single day. His pathetic attempt to distort a botched joke about President Bush is a shameful effort to distract from a botched war.
President Bush owes an apology to our troops and to their families for mistake after mistake in Iraq. George Bush didn't do his homework when he ran from sound intelligence about Iraq. Dick Cheney didn't learn from the lessons of the Gulf War when he forgot his own advice not to get bogged down in Iraq. George Bush didn't do his homework when he ignored General Shinseki's advice to go to war with enough troops to maintain order. This entire administration didn't learn anything about telling the truth; otherwise they would have leveled with the American people that we are stuck in a civil war in Iraq today.
The following is my email response to Mr. Kerry's email to me:
First, let me state emphatically, our President owes no one an apology, and he has not "botched" anything regarding the war in Iraq. It is the liberals in this country who keep "botching" things with their partisan, politically motivated attempts to regain power in Congress, while at the same time rendering aid and comfort to our enemies. Liberals should be ashamed of their behavior during this time of war.
Second, you have made a political career out of belittling and bashing our military, Mr. Kerry. You claim to be a combat veteran, but my son has now more time in combat than you ever did, and he is not attempting to wound himself in order to be sent home after a brief stint. Further, your bashing of the President and Vice President rings hollow in light of the fact that you have shown complete support of Mr. Clinton, who not only never served in uniform (as did President Bush), but is known to have gone to foreign countries while we were at war and belittled his own country. Stop this partisan one-sided bashing of convenience, Mr. Kerry.
Third, you do owe all of our troops, as well as President Bush and his administration a huge apology for your hurtful and callous remarks. If you cannot bring yourself to issue a REAL apology, then Americans have no alternative but to know you as the pompous, narcissistic, egomaniacal, self-aggrandizing fool that you've shown yourself to be. Our military is not "stuck" in Iraq, and we are not engaged in a civil war in Iraq. Perhaps you should spend some time over there and ask the people of Iraq if they wish to have our troops there, and if they want to have a peaceful country. Our military and the Iraqi people are fighting insurgents (many from other countries) and terrorists who are trying to move Iraq into a civil war. I'd think that someone who claims to have intelligence would be able to tell the difference. But, perhaps I'm wrong. You don't have any intelligence. My family has four members serving in our armed forces, and all of them are intelligent. They enlisted in order to defend our nation and help the Iraqi people. They were/are full aware of what is at stake, unlike you who seem to think you are above all that. As far as intelligence goes, I'll stack up my B.A. (Suma cum laude, with Honors) and my M.A. against your bought and paid for education from Yale any day.
With going on 3000 troops having sacrificed their lives for people like you to be free to make stupid comments, making your "botched" joke (as you call it) is completely inappropriate. Our nation being at war is not a "joke" Mr. Kerry, and you have no business trying to make "jokes" during this time of war. When I think of people like you being in the positions you are in, I think about what might have been had you, Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Reid, Reed, Schumer, et al had been in Congress during WWII. I can only surmise that we would probably have lost that war.
You need to step down from your Senate seat Mr. Kerry. You are not fit to be a political leader in this nation, and your continued bashing of our military is just providing fodder for our enemies. This is a sad state of affairs when our enemies are rooting for the Liberals in this country to take control of Congress so that they can defeat American. You are an embarrassment and a liability to our nation. Resign now while we still have a chance to win this war.
Sincerely,
Richard L. Pinnell

Thank you
Please thank your son and your nephews for their service. Our family appreciates their dedication and valor.
Very nice work on him.
Hot diggity dog!!! Love it!! Good response my friend, good job and please thank your relatives for their service to our country.
What a beautiful response.
Well done!!
I believe (didn't save it) it's word-for-word the form reply I also received when I sent an email on day 1 suggesting he resign.
I'm sure there are two categories for his staffers to "push the send button" on.
Pro Kerry - gets his toughguy talk.
Anti Kerry - gets what we saw posted.
I found myself nearly cheering out loud at every word, SD! Thank you for so beautifully and powerfully expressing what we all feel about this traitor!
BUMP!!!
Without going over word for word, I can tell you this is the same form e-mail that Kerry sent me.
I sent him an e-mail calling on him to resign from the Senate and told him he wasn't fit to shine the boots of our soldiers, and this was how he responded.
In the history of the world, name one war that was mistake free.
So, George Bush failed to be the first world leader to run an error free war. Is that some sort of crime?
"I doubt that he'll read it, but I can hope."
At the risk of being a wet blanket, mr 'do you know who I am?' husband-of-a-billionairess, senator for decades Mr. Jon Carry is not going to ever read a hostile or negative email from someone that is not a major player in mass. or dnc national politics, and very possibly not even then.
Off-topic, but I am amazed that film of his infamous 'do you know who I am' routine has not surfaced. It has to exist (restaurant security cams, etc); presumably the owners of them all believe they would suffer it if were released.
Great letter.
I hope someone actually reads it at their office.
Please know that your son and nephews have my deepest respect and gratitude for their honorable service to our nation.
As a Patriot Guard Rider, I have seen first-hand the pain and suffering of those families that have lost a loved on in Iraq (SPC Justin Johnson - Georgia)..I have also seen the absolute courage that families display in the face of such loss (Mr and Mrs Johnson)..My heart aches for them, but they know that their loved one died so the world will have peace and one day, I shall salute these brave soldiers face to face..
You sir, have displayed the courage of the brave soldiers, sailors and civilian contractors that are currently fighting this battle. They shall not have died in vain..People like Kerry (I almost have to force the name out) simply cannot acknowledge such bravery that they themselves fail to display without a cheap shot at the man who is almost singlehandedly fighting this war..It will go on for years and no amount of negotiating, talking or appeasement will stop them..only brute force from our military will do so..
Godspeed to you sir, your family and all members of your family currently involved in this fight, so my children, indeed all children of this country, may grow up with peace in our world..

Unfortunately, I'm sure Kerry will not take the time to read it. I'm convinced he deplores our military, our country, and everything Democracy stands for. His life's work has been finding the next rich woman to "keep him in the style" that he thinks he deserves.
This comment really hit home on what Kerry is really about:
Had George Bush and Dick Cheney lived it one minute of their comfortable lives in combat they would never have sent American troops to war without body armor or without a plan to win the peace and they wouldn't be exploiting our troops today.
What a hypocrite Kerry is! The only thing he did in "combat" was arguably create a couple of self-inflicted wounds, resulting in medals that he did not deserve. As we all know, he then tossed them over the White House fence. He reminds me of a child who get's a "F", and crumbles his test up. He is such a FAILURE in so many way, unlike your son, who is a hero.
Please thank him, from me, for his honorable service to our country, unlike Kerry's.
I think his first discharge was "dis-honorable", hoping for someone to dig in and find the truth about that one.
great response, sir. I salute you!
AMEN, my FRiend!
I've got chills running down my spine!
{{{HUGS}}} to you and the fam... and especially your hero next week!
Brilliantly stated, although it is doubtful the "educated" Mr. Kerry will be able to grasp it...problem is, he believes his own press releases.
