The keepers of the IREY/Murtha ping list, in order to keep as many of our fellow freepers informed as possible, are proud to announce the kickoff of DIANA IREY COUNTDOWN TO VICTORY #II-DAILY NEWS.

After a morning campaign meeting, Diana continued to make fund-raising calls. We are down to the wire and funds are badly needed.
The campaign needs to raise $100,000 this week for the final push to victory.

DIANA NEEDS OUR HELP!!!
Diana wants to flood the market with her ads on TV and Radio. Mass direct mailings and phone calls are being conducted. This all takes money and lots of it!
Many of you have already been very generous with contributions for this most important race!
Diana sends her heartfelt thanks to each one of you. She appreciates the generosity that you have shown thus far.
If there is any way you can give one more time, it would be greatly appreciated!
All contributions are gratefully accepted. From $1 – 5 – 100 – 1000, and everything in between. Every little bit helps and may be just the dollar that puts her over the top!
Another way to help Diana is by calling conservative republican members of congress and ask if they have publicly endorsed or contributed to Diana Irey for Congress. If they answer “no”, encourage them to do so.

Diana did a taped interview with local talker, Mark Nootbar of WDUQ.
She also had a taped radio interview with KQV radio.
Steve Novotney, radio personality and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, conducted a live interview with Diana on his program on WWVA, out of Wheeling, WV.
FReeper GitmoSailor happened to call the office yesterday and as luck would have it, he was the recipient of a chat with Diana. I'm sure Gitmo is still flying high today!
The afternoon found Frank at football practice, Ali at dance, Tori in the Finleyville Halloween parade and Diana at the chiropracter.
I don't know why Diana would need an adjustment.....she seems perfectly well adjusted to me!
Although, hours spent with a phone protruding from one's ear would probably cause discomfort in the neck region. I hope your neck feels better tomorrow, Diana!
Diana was off to a fundraising event at a private home. Bill Scranton was the honored guest.

I did three "ads" tonight in between trick-or-treaters. They're all pretty much inspired by comments made by Bones. One in particular is aimed at Reagan Democrats.
I like them Red, especially the one with Daddy. It says it all about his rant with the Haditha Marines in a few short words. You're doing a great job with them.
Well, see you tomorrow, amigo. My wife's hollering at me and I'm stumbling off in the general direction of bed!

Finally made it back to FR after a couple of days away. After hearing Kerry's comment and reading some of the comments on another thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1728906/posts?q=1&&page=151 (post 160) Murtha is right in there with the worst of them and supporting the worst of them.
I'm so new to all of this and don't know how/where to look up the info. to verify those comments, but they are appalling to me.

Those are great ads. You are so creative and talented.
Another problem is her lack of name recognition in the majority of her district. IREY is from the farthest west part of the Congressional district, which is also the most gerrymandered district in the state. It includes the most heavily Democratic parts of five counties, stretching from the western border of PA to the center of the state.
The thing I don't understand is why he keeps getting support, as 90% of his pork goes to his hometown.
You're right about that district, it's one of the most gerrymandered I've seen.
It's about 2 to 1 Dem to Repub but there are many moderate to conservative Dems, Kerry only beat President Bush by about 2.5 points in the district in '04.
Diana Irey has a real shot at winning, I think she will. There are about 18% military families and veterans in the district.
At a rough guess, I would say that if you include their families, "military/Veteran voters" will be about 30% of the registered voters in the district, perhaps more. If you start looking at kids, grandkids, great grandkids, cousins, and civilian aunts and uncles... I think that Irey will likely get a pretty solid percentage of the vote from the members of a Veteran's extended family.
That's just a rough guess, now...I haven't broken it down any.
Gary and I used that demographic as one of our many and several "indicators," but we didn't break it down in any detail. Believe it or not, we were being very conservative with our analysis...(pun not intended.)
The more you look at all of the numerous "indicators" in this race, the more you come to realize and understand that it is not a matter of if she wins...it is just a matter of how large her margin of victory will be.
All that has to be done at this point is get Republicans to the voting booth to vote.
As an aside: from an email exchange with Mrs. Irey, it seems that the Irey campaign agrees with my assessment, but she thinks that I'm being just a bit optimistic. In other words, from the context, my understanding is that they think they'll win, but not by the margin that Gary and I have projected. (55% - 57% of the vote.)
I had no idea the percentage could be that high, the 18% is the figure that's been kicked around for several months. From the reaction to Murtha's military bashing for the last year or so she's bound to get a solid percentage of Veteran's family votes.
I also believe she'll win it, I've felt that way from when she first decided and I found out her particulars. Of course I know my dislike of Murtha slanted my view early on but as time has passed I felt her numbers grew and his fell.
I also think the Repub base has started to come alive, I know that the Kerry fiasco has helped. As far as the percentage she wins it by I'm pulling for your numbers, I'll happily disagree with the Irey campaign on that one. :-)
This one, is of course, my favorite and hits the subject closest to my heart.
