WILLIAMSBURG -- College of William and Mary officials removed a 2-foot-high gold cross from the altar of the Sir Christopher Wren Building chapel this week, in an effort to modify the historic chapel into a nondenominational space.
The cross is now kept in a nearby storage closet, near communion wine bottles and other religious articles.

That news makes me unblieveably sad and heart-broken.
On the other hand.
Wouldn't it make some of you who are Christians a tad uncomfortable to have some of the more, how might I say, "rollicking" Freeper discussions in a holy place in front of a cross?
Instead of looking at it as an affront to the place, perhaps it should be seen as a courtesy to the spirit of the chapel.
A spirit not unique to the building, but to those who gather within it for prayer, with the cross before them. Because the building is just a building, and the cross is just metal. It is the purpose of those people gathered together that makes it a house of worship, the cross a symbol of that purpose in their gathering together.
If they are there for another purpose, then the purpose of the cross before them is done no justice.
You are mistaken. Paganism, Wiccanism, Druidism, New Ageism, etc, are all false religions that do not worship the one true God and are from the Evil One.
They are all nothing but the same stench wrapped up in different names.

I get more and more concerned about even religious institutions becoming more politically correct and more "diverse." Some schools are losing the nature of what they once were to become nondemoninational in order to attract more enrollees. That is what may come with receiving public monies and such. I would rather private religious institutions remain private.

First the NCAA got after W&M because ofteir nikname/mascot. Now the college has decided to ignore their history all together.

Guess it's time to start PAINTING the dreaded cross on all buildings.. after all, according to most communist judges, grafitti is just a sign of expression..
