Defense Ministry Confirms: Terrorists to Go Free in Deal for Shalit 12:48 Oct 25, '06 / 3 Cheshvan 5767
(IsraelNN.com) In an interview with Israel Radio this morning, David Hacham, a senior advisor to the defense minister, confirmed reports that had appeared in the Arab press stating that Israel had agreed to free terrorists in a deal for the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit.
Corporal Shalit was taken captive in a multi-pronged attack in Kerem Shalom on June 25, 2006. He is believed to be somewhere in Palestinian Authority-controlled Gaza, in the hands of Hamas terrorists.
According to recent reports, Egyptian officials will soon present a new deal for the release of the IDF captive, which would involve the release of terrorists and the Fatah organization joining a Hamas-led PA coalition. Hamas politburo leader Khaled Meshaal and Egyptian intelligence chief General Omar Suleiman met recently in Damascus, Syria.
what you do is publicize that you have implanted a radio locator beacon inside the terrorist's body, then free him. of course you have to put SOMETHING inside of him, maybe a small metal capsule, but put it either in his brain, or near his heart or spinal cord so they can't remove it without crippling him.
he won't be a problem anymore - his pals will shun him.
So : Hamas wins.
That's what I was thinking.

Mashaal to hold Shalit talks in Cairo
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Syria-based Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal will travel to Cairo this weekend in order to discuss the release of captured IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Shalit with Egyptian mediators, Palestinian sources said on Tuesday night.
Army Radio reported that according to the sources, Mashaal was not making the trip "merely to say no and to reject the new deal."
The new proposal was similar to the previous offer in that it involves the release of Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails in exchange for the IDF soldier.
Channel 10 reported that Mashaal's arrival in Egypt inspired the mediators, who have been trying for some time to secure a deal for Shalit's release.
In recent weeks negotiations stalled, but Mashaal's proposed trip is considered to reflect renewed progress.
Mashaal met with Egypt's intelligence director, Omar Suleiman, earlier in October to discuss the formation of a Palestinian unity government and a prisoner swap for the kidnapped soldier.
Looks like Israel's little war was all for naught. Trading terrorists for soldiers smells like surrender.
To some extent, but not entirely. While I don't like it, and would certainly prefer the US not adopt it, Israel's policy has always been to go to great lengths to secure the release of military and civilian prisoners. Essentially releasing a hugely disproportionate number of prisoners. It's happened before, to the extent that Hamas won, the victory took place when the captured Cpl Shalit. Same for Hizbollah, though the international community and Lebanon take hits there having ordered the prisoners release through a UN resolution.

I would have no problem with this if Israel implanted a GPS tracking device on the terrorists, then kill them off one by one later.
stupid israelis.
Poor Israelis: they're always lodged between a rock and a hard place.
Prayers for Shalit's eventual and safe release.
my opinion on the subject:

I agree; I vote for Israel employing a lethal use of force as well. ;)
But Israel is being strongarmed into submission again.
