I'm not voting, and it's Bush's fault!

I am in North Texas and voted early today. Went to the poll about 11am and had to wait there were that many people there. Most, like myself, were gray hairs but they were there voting. I was very surprised by the turn out that time of day. I voted straight R but one of the votes bothered me, don't think she will be good for the state or district but the D running would be worse.

"If you're going there after work, I hope the welfare recipients aren't backing the line up :-)"

I don't expect that. I live in Newt's old district.

Additionally, I leave for work at 5:15 am, so I have to vote after work. I will get to the precinct at 4:30.

I just moved into this district a year ago, so I take pride in casting the ballot that will cancel out my aunt's. She has voted democrat here since 1969.

My vote counted on Monday,10/23/06, here in Texas. A city worker commented that it had been busier Monday than the first early voting day during a presidential election. Said over 400 had voted Monday in my community of 14,000.

It felt SO GOOD.

I voted on the way to work.

Feels so good!
Although I still wish they'd give us a printout to keep so we could compare and make sure that it matches records of the vote. I asked the lady and she said it was illegal because it could result in, "Selling votes." I'd want something simple: You vote, you get a receipt, election ends, you run your VR number in the system's history on your prior votes and see if they match. If they don't, raise hell.
