Deliver a Spanking
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | October 22, 2006 | Colin McNickle

Posted on 10/22/2006 8:49:20 AM PDT by Conservative Goddess

I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...

I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:

A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.

....

...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?

....

Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.

Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...

It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

I agree, it's like something from the Twilight Zone... they are sabotaging Republicans that our conservative icon Toomey endorses because they are getting Republicans back for not supporting their icon Toomey in the primary.

In addition, they obviously trusted his conservative judgement enough to be fanatical about getting him past the primary and put him in the Senate, but they also think Toomey's judgement is complete garbage when it comes to endorsing fellow candidates?

It's all incoherent at best, moonbatty at worst...

BTW, that youtube video you posted was STUPENDOUS!!!! Wow!!! Thanks for that, gonna be way fun to pass around :-)

"If we lose the House, Republicans are going to think they have to be MORE moderate and when they run again, it will be from a left of center position."

If 'they' are that stupid and do run to the left, then they will lose again.

Do you think that conservative voters will just go away after this election? Do you think that we will become or RINOs or socialists?

Think girl. The GOP knows that it is angry conservatives who are refusing to vote for RINOs and other bums. Everyone knows that it is because (some) these guys haven't been conservative ENOUGH!

This isn't the end of conservatism. It's only the beginning.

If we are so inconsequential, why is this the topic of a 600 post thread?

Because laughing at trolls and demonstrating their fallacies sometimes deserves as much time as it takes. If it weren't so damn entertaining, maybe 60 posts would have been enough.

"We've won without them before in 2000 and 2002 and 2004."

You are hysterical.

It is only because we did vote GOP in those elections that the GOP won. It has been their failure to live up to their promises that has caused us to pull away and if the GOP loses it will because we are sick of the GOP's lies to us.

As usual, you have things 100% backward.

Reelecting bums only rewards them and encourages them to be a bigger bum in the next term.

Maybe so, but that is still far better than conceding the seat to a Democrat whose mere presence in the chamber helps put people like Pelosi and Reid in control of Congress. Many times, probably most times, a RINO bum's only redeeming virtue is that he or she helps keep control of Congress out of the hands of far worse Democrat bums who would gladly sell us and the nation down the river in a heartbeat to satisfy their insatiable hunger for more and more power over our lives, our property, and our children's future.

In many areas of the US today there is no hope of electing a truly conservative Republican who you and I would approve, you're going to get a flaming RINO at the very best and even that is doubtful. But in many of those districts a reasonably sane RINO can be elected, and that is incalculably better in the long run because a RINO-Republican majority in Congress enables a more conservative Republican leadership team to have a large measure of control over the lawmaking process.

In many cases, the pubbies that you support today are less patriotic and less supportive of our rights than the dems of 40 years ago.

False.

The Republican party of 30 and 40 years ago had more liberals.

And you can look it up at the ACU website. They have voting records going way back that show that.

When was the last time you saw an article about liberal voters punishing the Democratic Party by letting the GOP take more power?

You don't...thus the slide of the Democrats to the far left, as nothing keeps them in check. Is that what we want from the GOP, or do we say, "Enough is enough!"?

Why don't you post into the thread that you'd support the GOP even if it were the liberal party

Since we're "on the record" here, that proves that was YOUR idea, dimbulb, not mine.

The Conservative Party almost beat out the Republican party a while back in New York (think about that...they would have been listed above the GOP on the next election ballot!)...but the Right to Life party ran their own candidate instead of endorsing the Conservative Party's pro-life one. :-(

I sure hope you're right. I am concerned about the Philadelphia-suburbs Congressional races.

Me, too. The Clintonistas are in full-frontal attack on Weldon. But it may backfire.

Too soon to tell how far the cancer of Philly has spread. But the rest of the conservative state knows that if we don't get off our kiesters and out-vote Philly fraud, we're nothing but slaves to the growing welfare state.

It's an awful article. Any non-moron conservative can smell its contradictions.

Now if you want to help conservatism, go help Santorum beat that Schumer sockpuppet Casey ...

Letting the dems have power is a bad idea. Please vote against them because of what they would do--we've got to make the GOP listen and can do that all the time. Don't let Pelosi have it. My, God I can't imagine anything worse.

He should have started with the democrats. Tell them to stand down and then we'll do the same.

I can't believe anybody would trust a democrat with our national security.

Lieberman is a stronger supporter of Israel, but from what I've read, Lamont supports Israel, in fact some leftists have complained about his Israel stance is too far right. Go figure.
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

It isn't Lamont supporting Israel, its about who supports Lamont. He is saying what he needs to to get votes. The lefty pacifists got him into primary and through to the general election. If he wins he will vote anti Israel. that's why they got rid of Lieberman. too hawkish for their agenda when they take back congress. These people are really scary when you think how they would throw a long term liberal democrat and sure winner off the team because he's a moderate on the war. They are not just power mad moonbats, they are out to disarm and castrate America for the rest of the world.

In Michigan the very conservative Republican that beat the incumbent RINO in the primary was just endorsed by the CP candidate that is running against him!

He didn't know that he would win the primary, but now says he's fine with Tim Walgerg being elected.

I don't remember the guys name and here they call the CP the taxpayers party or something like that. But its the same thing.

Walberg will be very close to being the most conservative member of Congress, if not the most.

The RAT running against him has about $1200 to fund her campaign and has never been elected to anything more that one term of a local school board.

She raises organic chickens or some such silly thing.

Sharon Renier is her name. A real nutbar.

The RATS are pissed because they supported the RINO Joe Schwartz and he got booted in the primary by a real Republican. Now they have zero chance of beating him with the pennyless granola hippy...lol.
