Deliver a Spanking
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | October 22, 2006 | Colin McNickle

Posted on 10/22/2006 8:49:20 AM PDT by Conservative Goddess

I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...

I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:

A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.

....

...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?

....

Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.

Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...

It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Did you really not think I know you're here to try to discourage people from doing exactly what I said, keeping this country on the correct path and undoing 40 years of liberalism?

And you think we should have a snit fit and maybe give it back to them just because YOU don't agree with some of them 100 percent?

No thanks.

What are conservatives supposed to do?

The crybabies want our elected officials to act like dictators and MAKE the world adhere to conservative ideals overnight. The reality is this nation is not largely conservative, has a huge number of liberals and another huge middle group that is easily led by rhetoric.

These realities add up to the fact that our government cannot be fully conservative, the best we can hope for is to nudge it in the conservative direction and work hard at converting more individuals to conservative ideas.

What the libertarians and what I believe the easily led conservatives (along with the seminar "conservatives") expect is a government not based in reality and they believe that they can change the reality by punishing those who were elected by their neighbors. In this they are looking at the effect rather than the cause. The cause is the electorate not the elected. If they want change they need to ask themselves what they have done to change their liberal neighbors mind. In other words they need to look in the mirror to see who the guilty party is rather than looking at their TV.

Show me a Congressional race where the Democrat is more conservative than the Republican. I'll wait for your answer.

You won't wait long. I don't know of a single one.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking of just writing in my own name.

Well, then, would you prefer we just don't vote them?

You have two choices; one of them doesn't support conservatism in any way, shape, or form.

Who do you pick?

Alas, Badray is "absent" today.

Perhaps one is the sockpuppet of the other.

You've got a lot of nerve trying to inject FACTS into this discussion.

That's nice to know. Maybe I'll actually check in there again. A week was about all I could stomach until I turned the notifications off.

YES!!! PA Freepers come BACK to the state forum!!! JimRob crashed down on the board and laid down the law, YAHOO!

Now that we can use it for state activism and helping viable candidates on the right, we need the activists back again :-)

This election is also about wiping the whoring media's nose in all of the messes they have made in cheering for the USA to lose.

Koran in the toilet, Dan Rather's TANG memos, bowing to pressure by not running the danish cartoons, sitting on the Foley material until one day after he was ineligible to be removed from the ballot.

I'm voting straight Republican so the media has to explain how they got all of those poll SO WRONG.

Good morning.
"Tell that to those who voted for Toomey to get rid of Specter in PA."

Huh? I guess I'm being dense. As bad as Snarlin Arlin is, he isn't Hillary.

She could never convince you, me or anyone else that she was a Republican and the only way she will lose DemocRAT votes is if they consider her to be too conservative. I doubt that any Republican would think that. The world would be a better place if the good voters of PA had been able to unseat Specter, wouldn't it.

And where did that comment come from?

Sometimes there are those on this forum that have just one thought in their head, and if you don't agree with it, you are a communist or worse.

If you have anything intellegent to add I may respond, otherwise I will give your comment the attention it deserves, to be ignored.
