SAN DIEGO CNN has become "the publicist for an enemy propaganda film" by broadcasting a video showing an insurgent sniper in Iraq apparently killing an American soldier, the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee said here Friday.
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-El Cajon) called for the Pentagon to oust any CNN reporter embedded with U.S. troops in Iraq.
"I think Americans like to think we're all in this together," Hunter said. "The average American Marine or soldier has concluded after seeing that film that CNN is not on their side."
CNN said it broadcast the brief video to show the threat that insurgent snipers posed to U.S. troops.
"Whether or not you agree with us in this case, our goal, as always, is to present the unvarnished truth as best we can," CNN producer David Doss wrote in a blog on the network's website.
Tony Snow, President Bush's press secretary, said the insurgents were hoping to "break the will of the American people" by giving the video to CNN.

Thanks. Amazing photo. Once again Time/Life not quite the accurate source I used to think they were. Or, to be fair, maybe they meant the first of THAT war.
Your observation about the country's resolve in the face of evidence of the horrors of war is on the money. The weakness of resolve is not only cultural and educational, it's also, I think, the clear intention of the MSM. I am confident that the reason they won't show us the horrors of the 9/11 is that that is so clearly wrong that, they fear, it might steel our resolve to face other horrors. They want us to be victims. They want us to lose. Many of the articulators and presenters of the popular culture think success is a vice, and failure a sign of merit and virtue. If "nice guys finish last" (a false premise), then their fallacious reasoning leads them to conclude that all those who finish last are nice.
Agreed... and they do this without thinking of the actual consequences such a loss would mean to them!

Well, except for them, personally, who are better than the rest of us noble savages.
The most difficult question for me is when does the War on Terror end? It's like the war on poverty, or war on drugs, it's around as long as the politicians pursue it, so when will you get back the rights you surrender?
Either every legislative restriction of commonly expected rights, say habeas corpus, needs to have a sunset, OR we need to define victory, probably in the legislative branch. None of these is satisfactory, but I'm not sure where else to take it.
Communist News Network, enemy of the United State of America.
Duncan Hunter is on the Rick Roberts radio show in San Diego now saying that he is presently writing a letter to Rumsfield requesting that Rummy remove all CNN embedded reporters.
