Men being Men is a Bad Deal. Guys should Evolve Beyond Masculinity. By Robert Jensen
Sunday, October 8, 2006
It's hard to be a man; hard to live up to the demands that come with the dominant conception of masculinity, of the tough guy.

It's peripheral, because I do not dispute or misunderstand anything in your comment as stated in my post.
The obvious need not be disputed and to explain so becomes redundant. The issues raised are in keeping with the the success of Vanity Fair, Cosmo and like-glossy publicos.
People speak for themselves as they know of what they speak. To speak for another, when not solicited, appears to be protective , but suggests a weakness in the one they wish to protect.
I went down another path, on which I didn't expect many "pedestrians" to follow.
It's a beautiful day!

I'm glad you agree with my observations. The rest of your commentary, as I wrote, is peripheral.
Ok..promise I will fly straight ahead next time and respond as such.
But..but being peripheral in observations is much more fun!!
;)
I'm sure you're the life of the party.
Robert Mitchum is my all time favorite. Whether playing a good guy or a bad guy--what a man!
And who could forget Gary Cooper? The definition of American manhood.
The new Army recruitment slogan "Army Strong" says it all for me. Check out the video:

I love your post as well.

LOL, I can fight my own battles, mind you I guess you haven't been around FR much - but since being protective is one of the traits of a masculine man, which I mentioned in my original post (even though I don't whine or ask for help,) I do admire someone who shows manliness wherever he is, and being protective is a sign of manliness, and since I haven't asked for help your comment about weakness is uncalled for.
And by the way, regarding to speak for another, when not solicited, I remember pinging Proud Yank when you replied and posted that Proud Yank was a brown noser I take it because he agreed with my post. I think based on your responses you seem to disdain those who are appreciative of a post praising manly and masculine men... maybe because you aren't one of them, or maybe because you are a woman.
I love Robert Mitchum as well, and thanks much for the link.
You definitely didn't get it. Judging from your profile (which I think is terrific, btw) the puss is talking about guys like you.

Awwww, you're pretty when you blush (and all other times)! If you play squash as well as you stir up a thread, it must have been a great game today ;-)
You forgot the "Friggin' Idiot" alert.
See, this is EXACTLY why I didn't bother clicking on the link: I was bound to run across crap like this!
Personally, I'd rather watch a program about monstrous digging machines than read this column.
Proud Yank and I were just joking around..we had spoken earlier on another thread in regard to a LRDefender. ;)
You misinterpreted my comment on weakness, was just the opposite. I gathered you could handle yourself just fine.
All in good humor, I assure you.
Can check my name and see I am around a lot. I just don't normally do chat threads, that's all.
Thanks for your response.

He's a man, alright. What KIND of man, I have no idea...
Pretty soon, they'll be the only men Northern California has left.
Yes, he should go to Europe and see how long the Islamists over there put up with his sh!t.
