Witness on MSNBC said that it didn't look like the copter or plane was aiming for the building, but appeared to be in distress and striking more of a glancing blow. Was descending at a steep angle, with an odd noise.
But of course Freepers who weren't there will immediately claim that the gov't is covering up a terrorist act.

This is what an auto-rotation looks like.
Helo may have lost power or tail rotor.

But of course Freepers who weren't there will immediately claim that the gov't is covering up a terrorist act. As per the norm every time a plane crashes. They just can't believe that accidents do happen. Every event is terrorism and is covered up by the government. This has been the belief among the tin foil hatter since 1996.

New Yorkers might remember that eerie incident about 10-15 years ago in which a traffic helicopter crashed in the river (I don't remember if it was the Hudson River or the East River) while the traffic reporter was on the air live.

The fact that they don't even know for sure whether it was an airplane or a helicopter is a good indication of just how unreliable eyewitness accounts can be.

Not me! I still think 911 was an accident.
