That building hugs the East River. I would assume it was flying over the river and lost control for whatever reason.
Where did you hear it was flying between buildings?

A small aircraft crashed into a high-rise on the Upper East Side on Oct. 11, 2006, setting off a fire and startling New Yorkers, police said. There were conflicting reports on whether the aircraft was a small plane or a helicopter. (AP Graphic)

Where did you hear it was flying between buildings? I'm flipping between local news channels here in Philly (can't STAND Shep), and I believe it was local ABC getting their feed from WABC who has a chopper on scene - witness reports.
