"4 alarm" just means 4 fire companies are there. Even if the main blaze is out, there's still smoldering, smoke, and the risk of more small fires breaking out. Meanwhile, LOTS of trained firefighters are needed to enter a building in this condition and rescue people who are trapped or unconscious inside.

John Scott was saying that pilots are taught to ditch in the water and avoid the buildings. However, the building hit was the last obstacle before wide open space until the 59th St Bridge.

Out of curiosity, I checked out DU's reaction to this crash. There are several posters who are extremely bitter that this is taking the attention off of their Bush-bashing stories. Their entire world revolves around destroying George W. Bush. Others are demanding to know why NORAD is wasting taxpayer money by scrambling fighters. Clearly a Rovian plot. Oh brother!

You're all crazy - here's what happened:

The pilot was related to Paul Wellstone - and Karl Rove loosened the break pads on the plane. Then someone fired an RPG from Jones Beach, hitting the plane. The plane was directed towards the apartment, where coincidentally, hundreds of Jews moved out this morning.

Of course, a FBI agent in Juneau overheard someone talk of this in a gay bar and reported it to his superiors. The threat was deemed not credible, and was not investigated further.

Bill Clinton will be on Larry King tonight, claiming "at least I tried to protect apartment buildings in New York. Those rightwingers can say I failed, but at least I tried." He will then cry.

It's the Hospital for Special Surgery (or Surgeries) and I believe it is located in the very building that was hit. On the lower floors, though.

Looking at a photo of the area, I'd guess it IS terrorism. All the buildings in the immediate area are a hell of a lot shorter. The tallest one is the one that should have the least chance of being hit because it's the one you keep the farthest away from. It's your point of judgement...like a lighthouse.

I ask again, why would a terrorist select a condo. There are other more important targets right there within a mile or two? Explain please?

Now, what is this FR was saying about Senator Reid, 1.1 million dollar bribe, failure to report it to the senate and IRS, reported by AP , and whom Reid hung up on? I missed it.

Hmmm... a 1.1 million dollar bribe? Reported on 10/11? When a plane crashes into a NY apartment building?? Is Harry Reid a member of Al Qaeda??? Better yet - is Harry Reid actually Alex Ghadan???
