Yeah, that'd be stupid.
Yeah, the Second Amendment should apply to nukes, don'cha think?
Exactly, we all knew what the Dems would say once this happened. It's no surprise.
Putin must be beside himself.

As for talking to them, see how good it did jimmah.

JUDY WOODRUFF: .... Are you absolutely persuaded that the North Koreans are going to honor this agreement, that while the talks are going on that it's not just a matter of buying time on the part of the North Koreans, that they will not secretly pursue the program they were pursuing earlier, nuclear program?
JIMMY CARTER: Judy, I'm convinced. But I said this when I got back from North Korea, and people said that I was naive or gullible and so forth. I don't think I was. In my opinion, this was one of those perfect agreements where both sides won and got what they wanted and there were no-nobody blinked, nobody had to yield.... I think the most important lesson is that we should not ever avoid direct talks, direct conversations, direct discussions and negotiations with the main person in a despised or misunderstood or condemned society who could actually resolve the issue. And we went through this for ten years when nobody in our government would meet or talk to Yasir Arafat. The Norwegians did, and they were the ones that brought the peace agreement last summer....

Phosphorus?
While it may be required for plutonium mfgr, it is also a key industrial chemical with hundreds of other uses. Plastics and refining come to mind immediately.
Common sense say that China is not tying to help Kimmy make a bomb. This would not be in their best interests.
I would concur that a continuance of the NK regime as a irritant to the U.S. is a desired tool for them and Russia, but they both must realize that they are playing with fire and could get burned.
If NK has deeply offended them, which appears to be the case, they will be forced to act in their best interests, and eliminate the problem in such a way as to prevent a flood of refugees.
My guess is that some serious threats will be made, ignored, made again, and something will happen within the next few months that will force Kimmy and his Generals to submit to international demands, at least partially.
I don't think we will need to do very much on our end, except follow the original agreements in the six party talks as NK becomes more pliable.
They have really stuck their foot in their mouth this time.
We would! We knew the minute it was detonated. Nukes have a particular seismic signature, and we have that.
They simply have not yet released what we know, and they may not. We can play this in many different ways.
Al shoulda just told him that nukes would speed up global warming. I'm sure he would have aborted the whole program then.

My turn to post from another thread

To: Mo1
1994: North Korea, United States sign agreement in Geneva, North pledges to freeze, eventually dismantle, nuclear weapons program in exchange for help building two power-producing nuclear reactors.
Sept. 17, 1999: U.S. President Bill Clinton agrees to first major easing of economic sanctions against North Korea since Korean War's end in 1953.
Unbelievable that some will call for more negotiations.

I was surprised when they went from live to a replay.
Yaw, sure. Kim expends every dime North Korea has on military capability to the point of starving his own people. That he would use strategically critical materials capable of leveraging that effort immeasurably on anything but military advantage is laughable.
Oh my. This is such a friggin mess thanks to bj. But watch him slink off to hollywood and take cover, while Bush gets blamed.
I can't take much more.......
NK Ambassador to the UN feels they are owed a "Congratulations". (Drudge has the article - sorry the link is so long).

Kristinn,
I just posted this:

Talks about Japan's likely reaction.
The best part was the clause stating that there would be no verifications done for 5 years.
Well, Japan has split their seams. As a matter of fact, all those folks over there were told that North Korea was on the hysterical side and they wouldn't listen. So, now they have to pay the piper and either shut the little monsters down or be obliterated by their sticky fingers on the nuke button...
