Three More Former Pages Accuse Foley of Online Sexual Approaches
ABC News Blog ^

Posted on 10/05/2006 2:45:06 PM PDT by mmyers

Three more former congressional pages have come forward to reveal what they call "sexual approaches" over the Internet from former Congressman Mark Foley.

The pages served in the classes of 1998, 2000 and 2002. They independently approached ABC News after the Foley resignation through the Brian Ross & the Investigative Team's tip line on ABCNews.com. None wanted their names used because of the sensitive nature of the communications.

"I was seventeen years old and just returned to [my home state] when Foley began to e-mail me, asking if I had ever seen my page roommates naked and how big their penises were," said the page in the 2002 class.

The former page also said Foley told him that if he happened to be in Washington, D.C., he could stay at Foley's home if he "would engage in oral sex" with Foley.

THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS READER DISCRETION STRONGLY ADVISED: Foley's Exchange with Underage Page Foley Instant Message Chat While Waiting for a House Vote Click Here to Watch This Week's Brian Ross Investigates Webcast The page told ABC News he was interviewed this week by FBI agents who had a six-page list of questions about Foley and the exchanges.

The second page who talked with ABC News, a graduate of the 2000 page class, says Foley actually visited the old page dorm and offered rides to events in his BMW.

"His e-mails developed into sexually explicit conversations, and he asked me for photographs of my erect penis," the former page said.

The page said Foley maintained e-mail contact with him even after he started college and arranged a sexual liaison after the page had turned 18.

The third page interviewed by ABC News, a graduate of the 1998 page class, said Foley's instant messages began while he was a senior in high school.

"Foley would say he was sitting in his boxers and ask what I was wearing," the page said.

"It became more weird, and I stopped responding," the page said.

All three pages described similar instant message and e-mail patterns, with remarkably similar escalations of provocative questions.

"He didn't want to talk about politics," the page said. "He wanted to talk about sex or my penis," the page said.

The three new verbal accounts are in addition to two sets of sexually explicit instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

An online story on the Drudge Report Thursday claimed one set of the sexually explicit instant messages obtained by ABC News was part of a "prank" on the part of the former page, who reportedly says he goaded the congressman into writing the messages.

"This was no prank," said one of the three former pages who talked to ABC News today about his experience with the congressman.

These 16 years old young men are not blameless, but the real blame always lies with the adult in position of authority.

Foley was never in a position of authority over any of them. And he only contacted former pages for cybersex purposes or lewd suggestions. As yet, no proof of anything else.

No proof of anything in this tissue of lies. Most of what people "know" can already be disproven or has been admitted by ABC. And now they're in full cover-up and disinformation mode.

In this day and age when airing one's dirty laundry for all to see is a warped means of instant fame, how do we know these sources aren't lying?

I don't believe the accusers should be anonymous if they are now adults. We are no longer protecting a minor here and anyone charged with a crime should be allowed to face his accusers.

That is not to justify Foley's actions but to prevent the further smearing of a reputation for political gain. Anyone who calls ABC and wants their name withheld should not be given credibility until he comes forward and names himself.

Everyone should listen to OldFart, but of course they won't :^)

I'm with you OF, I'm not too excited about 16 or 17 or 18 year old young men messing around with wealthy old homos. I tend to think they were both getting something out of it. Used to be we expected 16 year old young men to know the difference between right and wrong and to have the courage to stand for right. Evidently these "children" didn't have the courage (or the common sense) to not answer an IM and to block the sender. Let's get on to important issues. The perp is gone, the "children" are safe and the sun will come up in the East tomorrow.

Well, maybe Brian Ross' new job title is "blogger" LOL!

Because ABC World Tonight, didn't seem interested in his "story".

the ABC "Reenactment" of Foley typing with one hand was tasteless.

I'm sure that's how everyone in the ABC newsroom types, if you catch my drift.

No Brian Ross on this story on ABC news tonight.

I predicted last night we would not see The Brian on air today. I don't think we will again. Given this weak and unsourced story, he's on the backburner, only to be used to dribble out a few miserable lies to try to save his career. Then they'll dispose of him to limit their legal liability.

I hope Hastert or Foley sues their asses off. It's time to stop letting libs nail the GOP to crosses for a bunch of manufactured lies. As Levin is saying, it's time for some Republicans to finally grow a pair.

WELL, why don't you ask them if he ever IMed them with comments like "I am wearing boxers, what are YOU wearing?" I suspect a grown man in Congress would have set him straight right away. I doubt even Mark Foley would be that dumb. He preyed on the young ones, and since none have come foreward to add their two cents I can assume that it didn't happen. Has even ONE page come forward and said I TOLD another Congressman that he did this. No. I think this hoopla is phoney and doesn't quite pass the smell test. Could it be coming? Maybe. I will wait it out.

"OK - and you know that it was on a government computer as opposed to his own, a cell phone, whatever? If you do know, I'd really like to share in that knowledge - I'm not perfect and may have missed something in all this confusing coverage"

Assuming he was in his office at his office computer I think it unlikely a politician would pay out of pocket for any office supplies. Even if it was his own pc he initiated the contact on government tel lines and the call was not secure. Think of the security problems and blackmail possibilities, foreign and domestic. And he used an AOL handle that recognizably is him "MaF54"

If it was on a cell phone, he probably billed the government. If he didn't bill he was still texting while on the job. And if it was a cell phone he really is a quick critter...I can't move my fingers on those little buttons 10% as fast as him!

Would anybody care to explain to me how these kids, who are supposed to be some of the brightest in the nation, are so dumb they don't know how to report a man who comes onto them in the capital of the country?

Speaking of a laptop, the ABC "Reenactment" of Foley typing with one hand was tasteless.

Yeah, but the Daily Show's send-up of it was priceless.

" The talk itself, if it is just titillating, is not a crime."

Ironically- that's the story at abcnews.com

" Foley Could Avoid Criminal Charges in Underage Congressional Page Probe "

ABC continues to describe the young men as pages and minors.

"Based on what has been disclosed, there is no actionable crime here," said Ronald Carlson, a professor at the University of Georgia School of Law.
"Right now, this all falls in the realm of plenty of voyeurism.
The law is not very cognizant of what you yearn for in your mind; it applies to what you act upon."

Former pages: Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich

Get rid of this stupid "tradition" --we do not need pages/messengers----> let the moonbats in Congress pay for their own delivery.

I stopped listening when the pages described how Foley had taken them up in his flying saucer and threatened them with being eaten by his pet sharks... oh, wait. That's what happened to those poor bastards falsely imprisoned in Massachusetts for "child abuse."

You think these guys socialized with Foley (and his boyfriends) and didn't have him figured out? I really believe the bottom line is that they just didn't care . . . and wouldn't care now if they weren't worried they would lose power otherwise. I feel no particular need to be proved right on this. A Pelosi House would be a disaster for every cause in which I believe. But I still think many voters are going to come away from the Foley news thinking, "The Republicans were lying down with this dog - how could they not have fleas?"
